Time to complete craft: 15 minutes (not including nature walk)

Age level: preschool-elementary

Materials needed:
leaves (approximately 15 in all sorts of colors, shapes and sizes)
brown paper lunch bag
rubber band
newspaper (several sheets)
glue
tape
googly eyes
magic marker

Directions:
1. Take a nature walk to gather several leaves (about 15 depending on their size).

2. For the turkey’s body, fill brown paper lunch bag with about 4-5 sheets of newspaper crumbled up.

3. Twist bag closed and seal with a rubber band.

4. Take the top part of the bag above the ruberband and open it up so that it is spread flat.

5. The turkey’s legs/feet can be made by gluing 2 similar looking leaves to the bottom of the brown paper lunch bag.

6. To make the turkey’s face, take a medium to large size leaf and glue it to the top part of the bag that is now flat. If the leaf is smaller than the flat area of the bag, tuck the parts under that stick out.

7. Add facial features such as googly eyes (a nose and mouth can also be added with magic marker).

8. To make the waddle, attach a small leaf to the turkey’s neck

9. To make the turkey’s feathers tape or glue about 5-6 leaves side by side overlapping (let these dry a little bit if you are using glue and they will be easier to attach to the turkey’s body).

10. Attach the “feathers” to the back of the turkey with glue or tape.

11. Display the turkey as a centerpiece or however you like.
