Southern Spirits

If you are ever traveling down south in central Mississippi, take a look at one of the south’s beauties. Merrehope in Meridian, MS offers history along with friendly tours that will take you back in time. You can almost hear palour music playing and children’s laughter as you into the foyer. Paintings and traditional southern decorations adorn the walls for your viewing pleasure. Quite a treasure hidden in the small city.

The building’s history is rich and the friendly tour guide take you on a journey back in time room to room. Most times the tour seem private just for you. You’ll climb the stairs traveled by hundreds to see beds made in beautiful beddings and you’ll notice the furniture polished as if being used. You might be right.

As I entered the building, I sensed two little girls. Dressed in white dresses with green bows. Hair in curls that were not combed out. I took a pic and two orbs formed. One standing, one on the couch. I’m not a medium, but we all have a sixth sense and see images. When you go into the palour you can just imagine men playing poker and having their drinks. Imagine the smoke going around the room.

Upstairs one famous ghost remains. A suicide, who shot bottles out on a fireplace then shot himself. Look closely and see if you can see bullet holes. Stand still and see if you can feel his presense. I know I felt a gloom and really didn’t want to enter the room. I’m sure he’s not the only spirit hanging out. Merrehope is just one of those special southern diamonds that you have to just take time out and enjoy. Go room to room and take it all in.
