Sixth Individual Charged in Triangle Murder

At approximately 8:30am on July 24, 2011 Santiago Hernandez-Arredondo, 44, of Durham was shot. He was in front of a vacant house near the intersection of Durham Rd. and HWY 98 in northern Wake County. A passerby heard the gunshots and then found the man’s body. He was rushed to Wake Med hospital in Raleigh, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Now, a sixth individual has been charged in connection with the murder.

Chris Alexander Reina, 16, of 2715 Highland Ave. in Durham, is being charged with accessory after the fact to murder and conspiracy to commit assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. Two other individuals who share Reina’s address have already been charged. Miguel Antonio Meza-Rodriguez, 20, and Erik Alejandro Acosta, 18, were charged last month. Meza-Rodriguez is being charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon. While Acosta is facing felony accessory after the fact charges.

The other three charged in the incident are family members: a son, step-father, and uncle. Pedro Tur Fernandez, 18, of 109 Kilt Way Dr. in Durham, is charged with murder and conspiracy to commit assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. His step-father, Tirso Mondragon-Cuevas, 43, of the same address, and uncle, Rene Mendoza Lopez, 30, of 1520 James St. in Durham, are also charged with conspiracy to commit assault, plus accessory after the fact to murder.
