Start with the right equipment

The very first thing you must do to start running is to get the right equipment. There are two basic things you need when it comes to running. Those things are a good pair of running shoes and also a good heart rate monitor. Now let’s start with the shoes. You want to make sure you have a decent pair of running shoes that support your feet. There are so many different types of shoes that sometimes it is hard to tell which ones you should pick. Here are a couple of suggestions. You want to make sure that shoes are very comfortable when you’re running. They should not be too tight or loose. Now, sometimes price does matter when it comes to shoes. If you buy a $10 pair of shoes, more than likely your feet are probably going to hurt. You should spend at least $60-$150 on a good pair of running shoes. Now let’s talk about the heart rate monitors. The best monitor to get is the wrist watch. You may purchase this from any store that sells watches or any sporting goods store. The faster your heart rate, the more fat you burn. This is why your need a heart rate monitor so you can know where your heart rate is.

Walk Run Method

One of the biggest mistakes that people make when it comes to running is that they always start off in a sprint. If you have never run before, you are going to get tired and you are never going to run again. The best way to start running is to use what I call the walk-run method. What you do is start walking for two minutes. This gets you ready to start your run. Now once you have done this two minutes of walking, you want to lead into a slow, steady jog. You want to do this for about three minutes or find a landmark as your stopping point. After the Jog, you want to run for at least two minutes and then start the process over.

Control Your Breathing

Beginning runners sometimes have problems with controlling their breathing. They take shallow breaths, and this causes them to become tired very quickly. You want to make sure that you are taking deep breaths when you are running. The correct way to breathe is in through your nose and out through your mouth. This will cause you to become less tired and will help you complete your run.
