Scarlett Johansson Opens Up About Post-Divorce Depression

Opening up about a sensitive subject, Scarlett Johansson interviewed with GALA magazine about her separation from ex-husband Ryan Reynolds.

The 26-year-old confessed that the split left her in a somber state, as she said, “At first I was quite depressed. After about a week or so I pulled myself together and started to go to the gym all the time.”

Though Johansson would not dish on the reason why she and Reynolds split, she did imply that her tendencies towards criticism and impatience could have contributed to the downfall of their marriage.

“I can be overcritical – with myself and with other people. And I don’t compromise… I pass judgment on people quite quickly. If I don’t agree with someone or if I’m annoyed I will tell people to their face – no matter how hurtful that might be. That can get me into trouble from time to time.”

The “Iron Man” actress also explained of her anxious nature, “I’m also incredibly impatient – regarding my job, my family and men. I want things to progress. I hate stagnation!”

And while she had a difficult time post-breakup, Scarlett praised those closest to her for helping her through the challenging moments.

She told GALA of her support system, “Luckily, I’ve got a few very close girlfriends who have been by my side for 15 years now, who I can talk to about everything and confide in. I’ve got a close relationship with my twin brother Hunter as well. And then there’s my grandmother Dorothy. She recently turned 89 – she’s an incredibly sweet, lovely and wise woman.”

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds were married in September of 2008 and split at the end of 2010. Their divorce was made final in July of this year.

In other news, the man responsible for hacking into Scarlett Johansson’s phone and the phones of several other actresses has finally been nabbed by the FBI.

Investigators have been led to believe that the hacking was done by only one man, 35-year-old Florida native Christopher Chaney, who didn’t even intend to sell the pictures, but just did it for the thrill.

Having been picked up by law enforcement officials in Jacksonville, Chaney is suspected of obtaining personal material from a long list of stars aside from Miss Johansson including Vanessa Hudgens , Ali Larter, Jessica Alba and Emma Caulfield.

Christopher has since been indicted by a Los Angeles grand jury while facing nine counts of computer hacking, eight counts of aggravated identity theft and nine counts of illegal wiretapping – with all charges carrying a possible sentence of 121 years behind bars.
