Scarf Storage and More

If you have an assortment of scarves you already know that it can be difficult to keep them stacked. Some scarves are silky, others are long and knitted, but no matter how you stack them, some slide off of the stack, others get lost in the shuffle. Or, you manage to keep the scarves stacked but, when you go to wear one, it has fold marks that are a little embarrassing. Other fabric things can be difficult to store, too, like lengths of fabric, table runners, and more. We all try to find various ways to organize such things. We fold them and put them in bins; we hang them on hangers, we stack them in a closet. Put an end to all the hassle of trying to find a good organizer for scarves and such. You probably have everything you need to make a nice organizer which can be used for scarves and many other things.

When you use an empty cardboard tube from paper towels or gift wrap, or a mailing tube, you have your organizer already. All you have to do is wrap the items around it and you’re good to go. It only takes a few seconds to put each item on the organizer. First, cut a length of ribbon, and thread it through the cardboard tube. The ribbon should be long enough to go through the tube, and to bring the ends together, and to tie in a bow on one side of the tube. For now, just thread the ribbon through the tube, and leave the ends hanging out.

Lay out a scarf and set the cardboard tube on it. Roll it from one end to the other so that you end up wrapping the whole scarf around the tube. If the tube has room for more than one scarf, just wrap another around it. When you have all the scarves in place, bring the ends of the ribbon together, and tie a bow on one side of the tube. Now the scarves will stay in place and you can lay the tube on a shelf or even stand it in the corner of your closet.

To store a length of fabric on a roll, fold it in half, lengthways, and maybe in half again – depending upon the width of the fabric and the length of the cardboard tube. Lay the tube on the end of the fabric and roll the fabric around the tube.

Roll place mats, tablecloths, fabric, pillowcases, table runners, and other cloth items, around the tubes. You’ll find it a handy way to organize and store many different fabric items around your house.
