Santorum, Rominey, Paul and Gingrich Are Not the Only Presidential Candidates

Most Americans are aware that Republicans Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, Ron Paul, and Newt Gingrich are battling for the chance to face off against Democrat Barrack Obama in November for the office of the President of the United States.

However, these men are not the only ones with dreams of being elected President.

There are 21 people formally declared as candidates for President of the United States and hundreds more representing many unheard of parties are listed on a political website as candidates.

Declared candidates are: Political Activist Stewart Alexander representing the Socialist party; Danny Woodring, representing the Independent party.

Libertarian candidates are: Former Libertarian Party Chairman Roger Gary, combat vet RJ Harris, former New Mexico, Gov. Gary Johnson, New York attorney Carl Person, and activist R Lee Wrights.

Republican candidates, former House Speaker Gingrich, political consultant, Fred Karger, Kathyern Lane, Andy Martin, Jimmy McMillan, flight attendant Tom Miller, Rep. Paul, former Gov. Romney, former Lousiana Gov. Buddy Roemer, former Sen. Santorum, Matt Snyder, and businessman Vern Wuensche.

Democratic candidates are President Obama, and pro-life activist Randall Terry.

These names and others will be spotted on Presidential Primary Ballots on March 6.

In Oklahoma, the Democratic Ballot features, Obama, Jim Rogers of Mid West City, Okla; Bob Ely, Lake Forest, Ill., Darcy G. Richardson, Jacksonville, Florida and Terry.

The Tulsa World reports that Ely promises to raise taxes, cut spending and be “the least popular President of all time.”

Terry is the founder of the anti-abortion group Operation Rescue.

Rogers is a perennial Oklahoma candidate and ran for U.S. Senate against Tom Coburn in 2010.

Richardson is a blogger and was an aide to former Democratic presidential candidate Eugene McCarthy.

The Repbulican ticket features Paul, Rick Perry, Santorum, Romney, Michele Bachmann, Gingrich, and Jon Huntsman.

Even though some of these candidates have dropped out of the race, voters can still vote for them.

Oklahoma is a closed primary state therefore primary voting is restricted to registered party members.

Also, Independent voters cannot vote and no crossover voting is allowed. In addition to the above front runners, many other parties list front runners of their own.

For example, members of the America’s Party consider Tom Hoefling of Iowa and J.D. Ellis of Tennessee as their president and vice presidential nominees while members of the Boston Tea Party are backing Tiffany Briscoe of Maryland and Kimberly Johnson Barrick of Arizona as their nominees.

The funniest person listed as a candidate for President may be actress and comedian Roseanne Barr, who is listed as a Green Party presidential candidate.

Bottom line all voters should be able to find someone to vote for and exercise their freedom to do so.
