Review of Dr. Woods Shea Vision Pure Black Soap with Organic Shea Butter: A Natural Alternative

Remember the Y2K scare? That was when I started to buy Dr. Bronner’s soaps because they were an all in one type of soap. You could wash your hand, use it in the shower, wash your hair with it, and even clean with the soap! I love Dr. Bronner’s, but there is another product that works even better.

Dr. Woods Shea Vision Pure Black Soap with Organic Shea Butter is another all in one soap that is non-toxic and natural, and it can be used for so many different things! It comes in a large 32 ounce plastic bottle that retails for $12.00, but was found for around $7.00, making it a great value to the customer.

The label states that it is a pure black soap suitable for all skin types. It also claims that it is gentle, moisturizing and an exfoliant. It claims to help clear skin blemishes and prevents premature facial lines. I am 55 years old with facial lines, and I wish I had found this product years ago.

Dr. Woods Shea Vision Pure Black Soap with Organic Shea Butter is all natural and eco-friendly, containing ingredients such as water, saponified coconut, hemp & olive oils with retained glycerin, black soap concentrate, organic shea butter (butrysopermum parkii), fragrance, vitamin E (tocopheryl acetate), sea salt, citric acid, rosemary (rosmarinus officinalis) extract and caramel. You can’t get more natural that that! If you are looking for a good natural soap, this is surely one to consider.

I love the smell of shea butter, and Dr. Woods Shea Vision Pure Black Soap with Organic Shea Butter does carry this scent, but it also smells slightly like rosemary. It has a very fresh, clean and natural scent that is very refreshing and soothing. I have sensitive skin and I love how this works so well as a face wash without making my cheeks turn pink.

Dr. Bronner’s soaps didn’t work very well as a shampoo, and I can’t recommend Dr. Woods Shea Vision Pure Black Soap with Organic Shea Butter as a shampoo either. It has a thinner consistency and it does not lather up as well, probably because there are no chemical surfactants used in the formula. When using it as a body wash in the shower, simply squirt a small amount onto a nylon scrubber and it really foams up, and exfoliates the skin nicely.

My skin is seriously dry, but after using Dr. Woods Shea Vision Pure Black Soap with Organic Shea Butter a moisturizing lotion is not needed during the summer months. In the winter I do benefit from a good body butter. I don’t have acne so I can’t comment on how well it works for that, but it is a very gentle soap to use if you have eczema. I am going to get my husband to start using this for his eczema, and I even want to try it on my ten month old baby because she has very sensitive skin with eczema as well.

For the price, this soap can’t be beat. It is more natural than some other brands that make that claim, and it works! I am pleased to recommend it and I think anyone looking for a truly pure and natural cleanser will love it.
