‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’: Let the Games Begin!

Can’t they all just get along?

The third season of Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” is in full swing. But aside from the season premiere’s brief time-out to reflect on the death of cast member Russell Armstrong, it seems to be back to catty for these ladies of luxury.

There’s another problem with Season 2. Two new members were added to the show’s already-bloated cast. That gives us eight– count ‘em eight– “Housewives” this season.

And while I kinda like Brandi Glanville’s spunky, I-don’t-care attitude (admittedly, she’s not everybody’s cup of tea), I have to wonder why producers added the ultra annoying Dana Wiley to the cast. She’s so grating! Oh yeah, that’s why they added her.

When Dana boasts about her $25,000 sunglasses and her upcoming wedding that will take place in a real castle in France, Camille Grammer points out that people who have money don’t usually talk about it. Hmmmmmm.

Meanwhile, Glanville hobbles on to the scene in crutches and has to deal with the aftermath of her broken marriage to actor Eddie Cibrian (he left her for LeAnn Rimes). Not to mention, her son has the 4-year old nerve to pee on the grass at Adrienne Maloof’s backyard barbecue! That incident alone has Glanville’s parenting tactics called into question by some of the other “Housewives.” Looks like it’s going to be an uphill battle for Glanville, as her only friend on the show seems to be Adrienne.

I gotta say, though, my real beef this season is with Kim Richards. After last season’s cliffhanger ending in which little sis Kyle called her out as an alcoholic, Kim hemmed and hawed about coming back for Season 2. I was glad she did, if for no other reason than to prove the naysayers wrong and hopefully redeem herself for last season’s bizarre behavior.

Except this season she’s acting even stranger. Adrienne’s doctor hubby, Paul Nassif, pointed out that Kim seemed drunk or something when she joined them for a Sacramento Kings basketball game. Later Kim skipped her sister’s charity party, blew off the aforementioned barbecue– and she keeps putting her makeup on in the car!

But she really took the cake when she showed up acting loopy up for Dana’s “Game Night.” She kept calling Dana “Pam” for some reason, then took off to the john where Kyle helped her fix her makeup. (What is it with this girl’s makeup?) Later, in a surprisingly mean girl move, she hid Brandi’s crutches. Kim, you should have just stayed home!

I guess the bottom line is this. These “Housewives” hang out together for a TV show. They will part ways after this franchise ends with many bitter memories of one another. They aren’t lifelong friends. And, sadly, it shows.

“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” airs Monday nights on Bravo.
