Pau D’ Arco was valued greatly by the Ancient Incas. It was brought to the attention of the early Portuguese by the South American Indians for its healing ability of Schistosomiasis. The flatworm that causes Schistosomiasis was prevented from entering the skin by the use of Pau D’ Arco. It is also an excellent blood purifier.
