My Review of Nana Restaurant in Dallas, Texas

Nana Restaurant has been named one of America’s Top 50 Restaurants by Gourmet and was given a 4 star rating from Forbes Travel Guide. So when we were in Dallas, I knew this had to be one of our choices to have dinner at.

Location

Nana is located on the 27th floor of the Hilton Anatole Hotel at 2201 North Stemmons Freeway.

Atmosphere

Being on the 27th floor you can just imagine the amazing, breathtaking panoramic views of the city of Dallas that you are able to experience as you are dining. The windows span all the way from the ceiling to the floor, so you have the best view possible you can. The best time is to go later at night when all of the lights of the city are on.

It is a fairly large area that seats approximately 180 people and also offers its’ guest 5 uniquely decorated private dining rooms that you are able to rent. It would be perfect for a wedding rehearsal dinner, a meeting or small birthday or anniversary parties.

Overall the atmosphere is very elegant and romantic. You are able to sit at half circle booths facing the windows, or at ivory clothed covered tables.

Surrounding you are pieces from a private collection of priceless Asian art that comes from Margaret and Trammel Crow. The pieces are unique and add a nice touch to the atmosphere.

Behind the beautiful dark cherry wood bar is a large painting of a woman that is reclining nude. This painting was created by Russian artist G. Marcel Suchorowsky in 1881 and named “Nana”, hence the name of the restaurant.

Menu

The menu at Nana is full of great varieties of options mixed with exotic flavors. It was hard to choose what to order because everything sounded so good.

Examples from the appetizer menu…

Mesquite grilled veal sweetbreads with pancetta, lobster and mozzarella

Chilean langostine ceviche with red onions, cilantro and jalapenos

Atlantic calamari with mushroom risotto, pancetta and chive oil

Examples from the soups, salads and pasta menu…

Wild mushroom bisque with goat cheese, leaks, and caramelized onion streusel

Baby spinach, candied pine nut, manchego cheese with sherry vinaigrette

Bocconcini mozzarella with oven roaster grape tomatoes and basil

Examples from the entrees menu…

Lightly grilled Chilean Turbot with confit chicken wings and escabeche of wild mushrooms

Day boat sea scallops with pearl barley tabbouleh, parsley, spiced yogurt and fried pasta

Slow roasted Berkshire pork belly with white apple coulis, lime and spicy peanuts curry salt

The bar offers a few different appetizers as you enjoy a pre-dinner drink or are waiting for your table to be ready. We ordered the Thai spiced crab crouquettes with chilled soba noodles and carrot-red curry bisque. They also offered Kobe sliders, Marinated olives and Manchego and a few other great options.

Price

The prices at Nana are a little high, but for the atmosphere and presentation of the meals, it is fairly reasonable. Once and awhile you have to treat yourself to something special.

Appetizer menu items range from $13-$37

Dinner menu items range from $30-$56

Overall

I was extremely impressed with the view of the city from Nana. We got lucky and were sat at a table right next to the window. The food was spectacular, service was attentive and professional, and overall it was an awesome romantic dinner for my husband and me. If I felt like splurging a little extra money on a great meal, I would come back here again.
