My Favorite Bible Verses

I received an e-mail from someone I know. He claims to be a Christian, but after reading the e-mail I wonder if he is or not.

I write about him not to shame him, but it made me think about my favorite verses in the Bible. My favorite are the ones that reveal what it really means to be a Christian.

I, in no way, make myself out to be perfect. I am a Christian, but I am not perfect. Being a Christian is not about being perfect. It is aboput a relationship with Chirst Jesus, the Son of God. It is about a relationship. It is not about going to a building or thinking you are better that everyone else.

Some of my favorite verses are about how we, Christians, are suppose to love others. It is not referring to just those that are easy to love, say your family though they are not always easy to love, but it means everyone. We are to love those that we would not want to love.

I love the person that sent me the e-mail despite him being full of hate. I love him not because he claims to be a Christian, which doubt, but I love him because he is one of God’s creation.

People that claim to be Christian are selective about the people they love. They love the people they want to love. It’s a casting call for loved ones where people are loved according to a person’s requirements.

We are to love others and love God. We are to do these things without complant, though God does listen to your complaints, and we are to have no other God.

If you think about all of the things that we have in our lives that we place above or on the same level as God. People watch sports all day but do not pray. People sit in front of a television for hours without talking about God with their family and frends.

So many people that claim to be Christians will make fools out of themselves in the name of sports but will not do anything that may appear foolish for God.

I am not perfect, but I do see a need for a change. Christians need to act like Christians. Take a look at Acts where the needs of the people were taken care of by the people. The Church is the people, not a building, and we need to start acting like it.
