Must-See DVD Concerts If You Can’t Get Tickets to Madonna’s Upcoming Shows

Madonna must be feeling the “Luvin’” as fans snatch up her new song and tickets to her upcoming shows. Her single “Give Me All Your Luvin’” hit Billboard’s Top 10, making it her 38th chart buster. The album “MDNA” is set for release on March 26th.

Tickets to her upcoming shows are selling out so fast, second dates were added for New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington DC, Seattle and San Jose.

It’s no surprise after Madonna set a record earlier this month by being the talk of the Twitter-sphere during her Super Bowl Halftime appearance. She became the most Tweeted about performance on the social networking site, being mentioned in 10,245 posts per second!

Not lucky enough to make it to the Super Bowl or get a ticket for a concert near you? There is always the concert DVD. So head to your favorite online/rental/streaming outlet and indulge in her past live performances. Here are three of her best:

Madonna: The Girlie Show: Live Down Under (1993)

A youthful, bright-eyed and pixie-haired Madonna is already a decade-long hit maker. She has plenty of crowd pleasing numbers including a moving, seated rendition of “Rain,” a disco-fied version of “Express Yourself,” a striped down, heart-felt singing of “In This Life,” and a cheeky, top-hat and tuxedo’d cabaret style version of “Like a Virgin.” She gets a little help on stage with some mime-like dancers.

Madonna: The Confessions Tour: Live from London (2006)

Madonna in peak control, this highly entertaining concert shows her as the master of performance. She stirs up controversy by entering the stage crucifixion-style on a giant mirrored cross for “Live to Tell,” she rides an equestrian saddle on a pole for “Like A Virgin” with a backdrop of x-rays showing broken bones from her horse riding accident the year prior. And it must also be said her backup dancer’s performances are spectacular.

Madonna: Sticky & Sweet Tour: Live from Buenos Aires (2009)

Coming off a divorce and naysayers beginning question her age and relevance, Madonna shows a determination to prove her stamina and unrelenting sex drive in this concert. She straps on a guitar for rock’d up versions of “Borderline,” “Miles Away” and “Hung Up.” She jumps rope through “Into the Groove” displaying endurance that could probably outlast the backup dancers half her age. She adds a Spanish twist to “You Must Love Me,” much to the delight of her pumped-up Buenos Aires audience, and really gets the crowd going with a stage full Madonna look-a-likes in incarnations over the years for “She’s Not Me,” topped with a girl-on-girl kiss, or rather Madonna-on-Madonna kiss, that only she can get away with.
