Makan Makan Asian Food Village in Manila Ocean Park, Manila Philippines

If you are looking for an okay place to dine while in Manila, make sure to stop by the Manila Ocean Park in behind the Qurrino Grandstand in Manila, Philippines, and enjoy the international cuisine offered at Makan Makan Asian Food Village on the second floor of the mall. Makan Makan is located on the second floor of the Mall Area at Manila Ocean Park and there is no need to pay for entry to the park in order to dine here.

The view of the ocean from this establishment is wonderful, and the food is ok for the price. Eating here will cost around P150 to P300 per person, or roughly $3-$7 which is not bad given the variety of items offered on their menu. I was a bit aggravated as the first two items I picked were not available, but if you visit the Philippines often you will get used to that.

The Liempo, or pork belly, was a bit bland and mostly fat, but was a little better after drowning it in some sauces that it was served with. For the price, the serving size was decent. We also ordered the Pork Sinigang while here which is a sour soup that is popular in the Philippines, it was delicious and had plenty of meat and vegetables, and one bowl is big enough to side for 2-3 people. We also ordered the Nasi Goreng with Satay and Fried Egg which is made up of sambal fried rice with 2 sticks chicken, pork or beef skewers, fried egg & achara (sweet spicy pickles). It was good, the rice was spicy and the skewers were very small, but the taste was excellent, and the peanut sauce was heavenly.

All and all, the place was not the greatest in the world, but for the price and the view it is well worth your time to stop by and sample some of their items. I would even perchance to say if you catch an evening when it is not too busy; the Makan Makan could make for a semi-romantic date. Have a wonderful vacation and Bon Appetite!
