Land Rover Defender Blaser Edition Dedicated to Hunters

While animal protection organizations try hard to save animals and combat animal cruelty, hunting is still a popular hobby for many and because the Land Rover Defender is one of the most popular cars among hunters, especially for its great off road abilities, the British carmaker has just announced a special edition, called the Blaser Edition, featuring equipment specific to hunting.

This will probably irritate animal protection organizations, but the good news for them and the bad news for us, car enthusiasts, is that the British carmaker announced that only 60 units from this special edition Defender are scheduled to be built.

To create this special edition Defender, Land Rover teamed up with hunting rifles manufacturer Blaser Limited and tries to offer hunters and nature lovers a car adapted to their needs. The special edition is based on the Defender 110 SE and comes with a special camouflage green paint finish (the color is Keswick Green) and among standard features it has an expedition roof rack, frontal electric winch, a heavy-duty trailer hitch, grille guard, rear spot light, snorkel air intake and protection shields underneath the car.

On the interior, the car follows the same premium hunting theme, with special green and black leather upholstery with green stitching and “Argali” logos, while the cargo compartment’s main highlight is a special lockable weapons box which can accommodate up to five rifles, plus another compartment destined for the necessary ammunition and the rest of the hunting gear. Of course, both the interior and the exterior feature plenty of “Blaser” logos, to show the vehicle’s exclusive status.

Under the bonnet, the Land Rover Defender Blaser Edition is powered by the popular 2.2-liter common rail diesel that delivers 122 hp (90kw) and 360 Nm (266 lb.-ft.) of peak torque and complies with the current Euro 5 pollution standards.

Unfortunately, there’s also some bad news for hunters all over the world, because the British carmaker has announced that the special edition Defender Blaser will only be available in Germany, where the starting price tag is 49,500 Euros (almost $65,000). The vehicles is scheduled to make its German debut at the “Jagd & Hund” (which means “Hunter and Dog”) hunting fair, Europe’s largest hunting event and one of the most important ones in the world for hunting enthusiasts, that takes place each year at the end of January in Dortmund, Germany and draws more than 70,000 visitors each year.
