Kate Middleton Steps Out in Alexander McQueen Plus Her Best Outfits of 2011

Kate Middleton is certainly revered for her fashion sense and many can’t wait to see what and who she’ll be wearing next. The 29-year-old recently stepped out in London at the Sun Military Awards in a stunning black Alexander McQueen velvet gown. Wearing her hair down, she seemed at ease and looked radiant and happy. This was quite the beautiful number, but she’s worn several other outfits in 2011 that garnered her plenty of attention.

Wedding dress

No rundown of Catherine’s fashion choices in 2011 would be complete without mentioning her wedding gown. On Friday, April 29, 2011, she married Prince William at Westminster Abbey while wearing an elegant wedding gown designed by Sarah Burton, who is the creative director at Alexander McQueen. The dress design was influenced by Victorian styles. It has appliqued lace over the sleeves and bodice and has a six-foot long train. The veil is comprised of silk tulle and has embroidered lace along the edges.

Flowing silver dress

On Thursday, November 10, 2011, the Duchess wore a floor-length silver satin gown to a benefit dinner held at St. James’ Palace in London for the National Memorial Arboretum Appeal. The one-shoulder dress was flowy, but cinched in at the waist with a matching silver ribbon. The dress, which was designed by Jenny Packham, was paired with silver heels, jewels and red poppy worn at the shoulder.

Simple cream dress

Although it may be a simple cream dress, Duchess Kate makes it look like a million bucks. The dress, designed by Amanda Wakeley, was worn to the Royal Marsden Foundation Trust Hospital in London on September 29, 2011 during her one official royal outing for the month of September.

Navy blue lace dress

On June 30, 2011, the style icon landed in Ottawa, Canada wearing a knee-length navy blue lace dress by Erdem Moralioglu during her first overseas tour. She was praised for her diplomatic choice of wearing a dress by Erdem due to the fact he was born in Canada but is based in London.

Shimmering rose gown

The Duchess of Cambridge stepped out at the 10th annual ARK dinner gala at Kensington Palace on June 9, 2011 wearing another creation by Jenny Packham. The rose-colored floor-length gown was shimmery from head-to-toe and embellished with Swarovski crystals. She paired the dress with LK Bennett shoes. It was her and Prince William’s first black tie event since getting married.
