Can you keep growing on baby formula? What would you think if you saw a person that continued to feed and live off of baby formula? What does a person seen to grow and be healthy? In the same way, we as Christians need to be fed. Can a person be healthy if they only eat once or twice a week? For us to grow, we need to regularly feed on the Word of God.

The Word of God in 1 Peter 2:2 and Matthew 4:4 is related and described as food. It can be seen as milk and meat. The milk are those passages that are easy to understand. The meat characterizes the passages that are harder and more difficult to understand. You are not going to go from milk to meat in one day. It needs to be developed and worked on. Studying the Word of God allows our faith to grow according to Romans 10:17 and the more our faith grows the more that we can understand.

We have different meal types such as breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In the same way the studying of the Bible falls into different categories. Acts 17:11 tells to spend time reading and studying the Bible. We are told in Psalm 119:11 to memorize and commit it to memory. We also need to think about it and meditate on the teaching according to Joshua 1:8.

The purpose of food is to give us the nutrients and energy we need to live. Studying the Bible tells us how to live. James 1:22 tells us not to just sit around and take notice of the teaching, but put them into practice. It is applying what we learn into our daily life.

How do you take in this food or teachings? As you read look for some of these things. Are there sins to avoid? Is there a promise to claim? Can I find an example to follow on what to do or what not to do? What does God command of me? Are there things I should avoid that might cause me to stumble?
