How to Make a Gift Wrap Bow From a Magazine Page

Recycle old magazines into beautiful gift wrap bows. The colored pages within a magazine make funky and unusual bows. The process is so simple that you will want to make several bows at one time to have on hand for special gifts.

Things You’ll Need:

Old magazines (minimum size 8-by-10-inch page)
Craft knife
Ruler
Pencil
Hole punch
Metal brad

Instructions:

Step 1 – Cut one page from an old magazine as close to the spine as possible.

Step 2 – Turn the page so the long edges are on the top and bottom.

Step 3 – Measure and mark the halfway mark on the two short edges. Connect the dots and draw a thin line across the page.

Step 4 – Measure, mark and cut the page into ¾-inch strips from top to bottom.

Step 5 – Hold the strip between your thumb and forefinger. Place your thumb and forefinger on the drawn line. Position the strip so one short end is above your hand while the other is below.

Step 6 – Fold the top edge back and bring the end to the front of the bow placing it approximately ½-inch lower than the center mark. Hold it between your thumb and forefinger. Repeat the process with the bottom edge.

Step 7 – Punch a hole in the center of the strip. The hole will go through the center of the strip and the center of the two ends.

Step 8 – Insert the end of the brad through the hole in the ribbon. The flat side of the brad is facing toward you.

Step 9 – Repeat the process with 8 more strips.

Step 10 – Bend the brad open to secure the strips together.

Use this same process to create gift wrap bows with ribbon, fabric, plastic or cardboard strips.
