How to Incorporate the Pantone Color of 2011: Honeysuckle

When it comes to homeaccessories and decor, nothing is more fun than checking out the latest trends in colors, patterns and textiles. It’s also not uncommon for interior designers to look to the Pantone color of the year for inspiration. 2011’s color of the year is honeysuckle, a bold shade of pink and since it’s announcement, home accessories in this hue have been popping up everywhere. Fortunately, there are many easy ways to incorporate honeysuckle pink into your home decor.
If you’re truly bold and daring, one of the quickest and often most inexpensive ways to incorporate the Pantone color of the year into your home is through a gallon of paint. Honeysuckle is a daring, vibrant color and it may not match any of your existing home decor. However, if you’re an eclectic, ‘go with the flow’ kinda home decorator, you should have no problem throwing up a honeysuckle accent wall.
Of course, though paint is inexpensive, as noted above, it’s not always the best choice for incorporating a new color into an existing color palette. There are many more subtle ways to incorporate this color into your home decor without going overboard.
For example, throw pillows are an easy way to bring honeysuckle into your home; whether they’re in your bedroom, your guest room, your living room, your den or your great room.
Depending on your budget, you may find yourself considering reupholstering one or more furnitures using honeysuckle pink. Whether it be a pair of slipper chairs or new upholstered seating pads for your dining room chairs. If you’ve got the budget (and the guts) you may consider reupholstering an entire sofa in the honeysuckle hue.
Of course, going big, bold and vibrant like entirely reupholstered furnitures isn’t for everyone; nor is painting entire walls. That being said, there are thousands upon thousands of different home accessories that you can incorporate into your existing home decor.
For example, consider seeking out a piece of wall art, such as a photographic print of actual honeysuckle flowers. Other options include installing a small but easily swapped out wall clock or an oval mirror with a honeysuckle frame.
You can also find various table decor items, such as charger plates or vases in the honeysuckle hue. In short, simply find an item you love in this fun shade and you’ll realize how easily you can incorporate new items and colors into your existing home decor. Remember, one of the great things about home accessories is that you can return them or resell them if you don’t like them, they’re easy to swap out and oftentimes, they’re inexpensive to purchase.
