*Syma R/C Helicopter – $20+; ages 14+; This remote control helicopter is amazing because of the fantastic, low price that it’s offered at. With a 30-foot range and long battery life, the Syma R/C Helicopter can be controlled in every direction and is loads of fun. It also comes in multiple colors and designs.
*Hot Wheels Wall Tracks Starter Set – $25-$32; ages 4-8+; Everyone knows about Hot Wheels, but this new set from them is very unique and fun. It simply mounts onto the wall to allow for all kinds of crazy courses and tracks to be built. The starter set here will give you enough to get started, and additional components can be purchased separately.
*Transformers: Dark of the Moon – Ultimate Optimus Prime – $59-$89; ages 5+; This is one amazing Transformers action figure. It’s electronic with lights, sounds and more. It converts from a trailer into a huge Optimus Prime with extending wings, an “ultimate super cannon” and more. Stands 22 inches tall when fully converted.
*Nerf Vortex Vigilon – $15-$22; ages 8+; The Nerf Vortex Vigilon is one of their newest additions, and it offers long-range blasting of their Nerf discs. Holds 5 discs and has a rapid-reload disc clip to continue shooting and having fun. Launches discs at an ultra long distance for even more possibilities than ever.
*Latest Lego Sets – There are some really detailed, intricate and fun Lego sets on the market this season, and they are sure to be some of the most popular hot toys for boys for Christmas 2011. Right at the top of the list is the Lego Mindstorms NXT 2.0 ($250, ages 10-18), which includes sensors, motors and computer chips with instructions to build multiple robots. More traditional, but very cool Lego sets this year include the Star Wars Millennium Falcon ($125) and Pirates of the Caribbean Black Pearl ($99).
*Beyblade Metal Masters Triple Battle Set – $25-$40; ages 8-13; The Beyblade system is a newly updated version of the classic battle tops type game. This is a battle set which includes two tops, launchers and rip cords, as well as a customizable “battle arena”. It’s enough to keep a handful of rowdy kids occupied for quite some time.
*Razor eSpark Electric Scooter – $129-$179; ages 8+; The eSpark electric scooter from Razor is going to be on lots of boys’ lists. It can get up to 10 MPH and it can be used for 40 minutes on one charge. For something more affordable and a bit more low key, try the Flybar Foam Master Pogo Stick ($39) or Flybar Maverick Pogo Stick ($29).
*Angry Birds: Knock on Wood Game – $26-$30; ages 5-9; The best selling app now will become one of the hottest toys for boys for Christmas 2011. Build your own physical levels, and fling your Angry Birds at them to destroy them. Comes with the building blocks, birds, green pigs and more.
*Puzzle Games – $10-$25; ages 6+; One of the most popular puzzle games this holiday season is the Perplexus Maze Game, which is a really challenging 3D marble challenge type game with over 100 different obstacles within it and multiple races or challenges. There are many other fun puzzle games for the family though, including Qwirkle, Spot It and the Hedbanz Game, so it just depends on what looks fun for you.
