Guide to Lorin Farr Skatepark in Ogden, Utah

Lorin Farr Skate Park in Ogden, Utah is one of the most frequented skate parks in the area. Located on the edges of Ogden city, this skate park boasts not only a casual atmosphere but also a very helpful set of obstacles for any aspiring street or crossover skater. I will discuss the pros and cons of this skate park as well as the general layout of the park.

The first time I went to this park I was surprised by how many different levels of skaters were able to find enjoyment there. I was a very novice skateboarder at the time and did not feel unwelcome by some of the more experienced boarders. In fact, I received many helpful tips that I utilized for years to come. There were quite a bit of bikers there, which I found to be frustrating because the park was designed for boarders only and in tight proximity bikers could be hazardous. Luckily as I kept returning to the park I found there to be less bikers on a regular basis than I would have suspected, based on my initial impression.

I am a regular patron of this park and so I do know the layout in detail. The entrance o the East side brings the skater to the rear of a large volcano that leads to multiple avenues through out the park. On your right is a ramp with a roughly 2 ½ ft. box that has coping on all edges. Further down this path you will find a tranny that leads down to a moderate step up. On the west side of the park there is a foot-high box with coping. Six or so feet away you will find a double bowl that is roughly 7 ft. Both bowls have round coping that includes the spine.

Unfortunately there is some graffiti on the cement obstacles, however, most is not gang related. There is some offensive language in the air, which is typical to any skate park. Another problem is that the water fountain is not within the park and is not turned on in early spring and late fall. A benefit from a family’s standpoint is that there is a pool directly next to the park which presents an opportunity for fun for the whole family in one location.

Overall this park is very diverse and has helped me greatly in developing my skills. With many sponsored skaters there daily, one is bound to pick up great tips as well as build relationships with the community. There is plenty of parking where a parent could watch their children while they skate. I would recommend bringing water and snacks because there aren’t many stores near the park. Although rough around the edges, this park is actually a gem that I recommend to any aspiring skateboarder.
