Ghost Hunters Episode Review: Hill View Manor

Synopsis: The TAPS team investigates an abandoned nursing home in New Castle, Pennsylvania that has reports of full bodied apparitions and the ghost of a little boy who reportedly visited residents just before they died.

What I liked about this episode: There are certain places that are creepy even if they aren’t really haunted and abandoned nursing homes/hospitals are near the top of that list. With all those empty rooms, you can’t help but feel someone might pop out of one of the doorways at any given time.

I was also glad to see they decided to bring Maddie back. As I have said in the past, I think she is now the only member of the TAPS team that enters a building truly unbiased about whether or not it is really haunted.

What I didn’t like about this episode: The evidence was, once again, lacking. They heard some noises, saw a few shadows (off camera of course) but there was nothing even close to the claims that were made about the building.

This, in itself, isn’t necessarily a bad thing (not finding anything adds some credibility to the show). But, they also didn’t seem to make a whole lot of effort either. As my wife mentioned, Jason and Grant were once again without their thermal imaging camera. I think that would have been very handy when they were hearing something banging on that door in the kitchen or when Maddie was scared by something.

The only thing that could be considered real evidence was that flashlight experiment conducted by Amy and Adam. But, even that wasn’t all that convincing; mostly because the hallway was so dark, it was impossible to confirm whether or not the hallway was really empty or if they had someone hiding in the shadows and turning the lights on and off.

Final Opinion: It wasn’t as boring as last week’s episode but it still ended up being a bit of a disappointment for me.
