Eagles Still Alive

For the first time in months, the Eagles looked like a team many expected to see this year. It wasn’t easy, as you would expect with this team but managed to hold on to a 20-13 victory to stay alive in the division.

Now at 2-4, the Birds are still in a hole and ways to go before talking about the playoffs but are able to see a little daylight as no one in the NFC East division is pulling away. Rex Grossman had a brutal game, throwing 4 interceptions, 3 of which were intercepted by safety Kurt Coleman, who was reinserted into the starting lineup after being benched earlier in the year. Coleman is the first Eagle in 45 years to have 3 interceptions in the same game. The defense overall looked good and tackling wasn’t an issue today.

On the other side of the ball, the offense was excellent and efficient for most of the first half. The shuffled offensive line did a great job protecting Michael Vick. Vick who finished the game 18-31 for 237 yards throwing 1 touchdown and 1 interception. LeSean McCoy, who was held to 80 yards on 11 attempts last week in the lose to the Bills, erupted for his third 100 yard game of the season, rushing for 126 yards on 28 attempts to go with 1 touchdown.

The second half offense was a different story, as the Redskins defense held the Eagles scoreless. It’s like second half transformed them back to a so familiar team from previous four games, receivers dropping balls, not completing third downs but this time around, they were able to hang on even as the Redskins made a late rally.

With a bye week coming, Andy and company get to regroup and start the second half of the season in a must win every game mentality. It is looking more and more that 10 wins will be the cut off to win the NFC East division which means this Eagles team will need to go 8-2 down the stretch to equal that win total.
