Dry Shampoos–A Great Alternative when Time is Short

I love dry shampoos. There are just some mornings I just run out of time. An application of dry shampoo and a comb out and I am up and out the door. It even helps out by diminishing the oilyness of my hair.

According to Ulta.com, dry shampoos have increasingly become better formulated products since they first appeared in the 1970’s.

Dry shampoos are very convenient if you lead a very busy life. They can refresh your daytime look if you suddenly have a function you need to attend to after work and no time to shower and fix your hair. If you work-it-out at a gym during your lunch hour, a dry shampoo instantly adds volume to your sweaty locks. The benefit I love most is the oil-absorbing quality of a dry shampoo. If your locks get oily throughout the day, this helps combat against that slimy look.

So, how do you choose a dry shampoo? With so many brands out there you may find it difficult to decide.

Always look for a dry shampoo that is labeled invisible. Read reviews online from other consumers to see which ones are actually invisible. Since dry shampoos are marketed to soak up excess oil, companies use a powder to achieve this. Sometimes the powder can leave a white residue on your hair.

Using a dry shampoo isn’t hard but it does take time to master the technique. Read and follow
each products directions as some may differ. Some products are a spray-on type and others may require you to brush it on. Always work the product through your hair to distribute it evenly.

Shop around and look for a formula that you like. There are some dry shampoos that I find to heavily-scented. My sinuses just can’t handle these. Try a little spritz in the store to see how it smells before you buy.

There are other eco-friendly dry shampoos on the market that are better for the environment, if that is an area in which you have concern for.

Do try a dry shampoo. If you are uncertain about it shop around for travel-size versions or look for some free samples before you shell out your hard-earned cash.

I like dry shampoos but I don’t use them everyday. They are handy to have on hand though. You can still be refreshed if you have a power outage or an issue has happened in which you are without water. Great to take along on camping trips, too.
