‘Dexter,’ Season 6, Episode 5, ‘The Angel of Death’

“Dexter,” Season 6, Episode 5, “The Angel of Death” brings both Dexter and Miami Homicide closer to Geller and Travis, the two Doomsday Killers. Debra, thanks to an unrelated murder/suicide, is able to make a life changing decision.

Spoilers follow.

Dexter, thanks to a bit of paper and glue found in the angel wings of the most recent victim, is able to locate a certain documentation restorer named Travis who just happens to be a former student of Geller, whom has already been identified as one of the Doomsday Killers.

Masuka has a new intern, who is helping him with a problem his last intern caused, thanks to some computer skills and a willingness to suck up to the boss.

Brother Sam and Dexter seem to be bonding, which is surprising. But Dexter’s quest for some kind of humanity may be helped by a man who turned away from the dark side and embraced the light. Or will it?

Batista and Quinn interview one of Geller’s old teaching assistants. Then Quinn sleeps with her. Then Batista finds out that she knows more than she is letting on.

Geller announces to Travis that it is time to set upon the next stage of the ritual, which will be the Whore of Babylon. The twist is that since Geller’s face is now in every newspaper, Travis must snatch the next victim. He botches the job and so the following night, once again, the long suffering and patient Geller must show his protégé how it is done.

Anderson calls Dexter into a crime scene at a beach front house. Dexter deduces that it is a murder/suicide in 15 seconds, which impresses the guy from Chicago. Dexter is less than impressed by Anderson’s condescending attitude toward his new Miami compatriots.

The fact that the house is now a crime scene makes it affordable for Debra to move into. That way she can look at bloody crime scene photos without the threat of little Harrison walking in on her and getting traumatized.

Dexter snatches Travis with the intention of putting him on his table. But Travis blurts out, rather convincingly, that he has not actually done any of the killings. This makes him ashamed as he feels that this means he is weak. It also spares him his life, as the Code of Harry is quite clear on this point. Hopefully Travis will lead Dexter to Geller, who deserves that special Dexter touch.

Finally, Brother Sam is shot by one of the drug gangsters he has offended. One suspects that he will soon meet Dexter and will live to regret it. But not for very long.
