Decorating Your Home for Autumn

The heat of summer is finally coming to an end and the weather will soon be cooling off. That must only mean one thing: Autumn is here! Autumn is the perfect season to be creative when decorating your home. There are a variety of colors, scents and themes you can use.

Incorporate the colors of autumn into your decorating. Use autumn colors all around your home. Colors include: orange, yellow, gold, red and brown. All of these colors go so well together to bring the warmth of autumn into your home.

Make your home smell good by using scents made for autumn. You can use candles, potpourri, oils, and room sprays. Some great scents to use are pumpkin, pumpkin pie, apple cinnamon, vanilla, fig, nutmeg, autumn harvest, cinnamon spice and clove. These scents will all make your home smell great.

Use autumn-themed rugs, towels, table cloths, curtains and pillows around your home.

Incorporate different fall decorations around your home. You can bring the outdoors in with items you find outside. Use acorns, leaves and twigs, Place pumpkins and gourds around your home. If you don’t want to use real ones pumpkins, gourds, twigs or leaves you can find some cheap fake ones at the craft store. Scarecrows make a cute addition to your decorating.

Two holidays occur during the autumn season: Halloween and Thanksgiving and they both should be incorporated in your decorating. For Halloween, use black cats, witches, monsters, ghosts, jack-o-lanterns and skeletons. For Thanksgiving, use Indian corn, pumpkins, gourds, Pilgrims and Indians, and a beautiful cornucopia for your table.

However you decide to decorate your home for autumn, be creative and have fun. Autumn is only here for a short time so make the most of it in your decorating!
