Cinematique of Daytona Offers a True Film Experience

We sat in our camping chairs under the stars one night in Daytona Beach, Florida watching the all-time classic film Casablanca. Cinematique of Daytona, a local independent movie theater in Daytona Beach, Florida hosted this stellar event a few years ago. I have never forgotten the splendor of the night and the magic of seeing an old film on a giant screen!

Cinematique of Daytona has a wonderful bio on their website. In part it states: “Cinematique of Daytona is a non-profit, arts organization with the mission to bring international, national and local independent film to the citizens of Daytona Beach and the surrounding area. For 20 years we’ve been bringing the best and hardest-to-find independent and foreign films to the Sunshine State.”

The theater has a new home at 242 Beach Street, one 1/2 blocks south of International Speedway and Beach Street in Daytona Beach, Florida. In addition to serving food right to the customer’s table at this new locale, they also offer wine and cold beer. Prices for film and events vary. Visit Cinematique’s website for more information: http://www.cinematique.org/

For the last 8 years, Cinematique has held the Daytona Beach International Film Festival. This year’s festival will be held on November 11-13, 2011. More information is available on the Daytona Beach Film Festival website: http://www.dbff.org/

One highlight of Cinemetique is their outdoor film presentations. This summer they offered films at the historic Daytona Beach Bandshell. A series of four shows were hosted at the Bandshell by Cinematique. The Bandshell is adjacent to the World’s Most Famous Beach (Daytona Beach). What can be better than the cool ocean breeze and the smell of popcorn in the air as you sit back and enjoy a film outdoors?

I can personally answer that question and say the experience my husband and I shared while watching Casablanca was priceless!
