Beyonce Trying to Curb the Pregnancy Cravings: Other Stars Who Battled the Baby Weight

Beyonce has a plan to avoid having to lose those pesky post-baby pounds. She’s going to do her best not to gain them in he first place.

The mom-to-be gives Katie Couric all the details of her post-baby planning on a new interview set to air on “20/20″. “I’ve been really conscious [about food],” the singer reveals. “I’ve been doing my best not to lose control because I’ve met so many people that say, ‘My second baby, my third baby, I’ve learned my lesson.’ So I haven’t been going crazy. I know it’s important that I don’t lose control.”

Yep, that’s the one thing that every new mommy doesn’t want to lose – control! There may be days when she loses her keys. She’ll definitely lose some sleep. There may even be some moments when she feels like she’s losing her mind, but we certainly wouldn’t want to to see the grand diva lose control.

Despite her desire to keep her focus directly on her waistline, the expectant star also has some time left to focus on her new addition. “It’s exciting! I know it’s gonna be difficult at times,” she admits. “I know that, like my mother, I’m gonna get on my child’s nerves [but] I’m just ready! I’m ready for the next chapter.”

Her desire to stay trim isn’t a new one in Hollywood. Many have tried, but few have succeeded. Here’s a look at a few stars who battled the baby weight gain while expecting:

Mariah Carey: Nobody knows how hard it is to battle the baby bulge with the world watching than this fellow diva. The singer famously gained more than seventy pounds while expecting her twins, Monroe and Moroccan last year. In her case, there was more than pregnancy cravings to blame as the star battled preeclampsia which caused her body to retain an amazing amount of water during the final stage of her pregnancy. She easily shed forty pounds in the weeks following the twins birth and turned to the Jenny Craig program, which she has signed on to as the new celebrity spokesperson, to help she the rest of the baby weight.

Jenny McCarthy: She was once the hot Playboy bunny of every guy’s dreams. Then Jenny McCarthy packed on eighty pounds of baby weight while expecting her son, Evan, 9. It took a full year for the star to return to her pre-baby glory with the help of the Weight Watchers program to help teach her about portion control and being aware of everything she put in her body.

Kendra Wilkinson: The former “Girl Next Door” got a lot of grief when she debuted her post-baby body on the second season of “Kendra”. The weight gain messed with the usually confident Playboy Playmates self-esteem and she turned to the help of a personal trainer to help her return to her pre-baby glory. The final key in her baby weight loss was a stint on “Dancing with the Stars” that returned her to a size zero.

Maya Rudolph: The funny lady gained over seventy pounds during her first pregnancy by sticking to a diet of pancakes and ice cream in 2005. The “Saturday Night Live” alum and “Up All Night” star turned to exercise and healthy eating to get back in shape.
