Audi E-tron Spyder Concept

Audi have released details and allowed testing on the e-tron Spyder. Whereas it may not be released as a model itself, it will influence a future model that will sit in-between the Audi TT and the Audi R8.

The name of the car may sound very familiar after the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. The Audi R8 e-tron concept all electric car was displayed at this specific show. The actual Audi e-tron Spyder was displayed at the Paris Motor Show last year however.

Looks wise, the car is simply magnificent inside out and from every angle you view it from. It must be noted however that the car is very small, with it being 4.7 inches shorter than the Audi TT.

There will be a 3.0 litre V6 diesel installed which works alongside two electric motors. The car will be able to produce around 385 BHP. It will be able to produce 1,002Nm of torque too. It will reach 0-62 MPH in an astonishing 4.2 seconds, putting it on par with some sports cars! What’s even more surprising is the fuel economy of the car which is said to be around 106 MPG. The Audi e-tron Spyder will be able to run on electric power alone for 30 miles.

The CVT gearbox adds to the driving experience, with it being very intelligent and allows the driver to pick up speed very quickly. However some testers who travelled to California to report their expert findings believe that the car is not as quick as it actually looks and disappoints in some areas.

The diesel engine delivers good efficiency but doesn’t give off that amazing sound of a sports car, according to some testers. It sounds like its being worked too hard and very noisy some have said.

The front suspension is the same as that within Audi TT RS and the rear suspension is taken from the Audi R8. This will give the car a tremendous grip to the road as well as terrific handling.

The Audi e-tron Spyder is said to have a major influence on the Audi R4 and will be available in 2014. This said and will be worth around £45,000, according to some sources.
