Amy Winehouse Album Slated for December 1st

Winehouse was hard at working on her third studio offering before passing in July 2011 of alcohol poisoning at 27 years old. It was unclear if the posthumous album would be released but now it’s been confirmed for December 1, 2011.

“I spent so much time chasing after Amy – telling her off – that I never realized what a true genius she was,” Winehouse’s father Mitch says about his daughter’s music. “It wasn’t until I sat down with the rest of the family and listened to this album that I fully appreciated the breadth of her talent. From jazz standards to hip-hop songs, it took my breath away.”

Entitled ‘Amy Winehouse Lioness: Hidden Treasures,’ the set will include unreleased materials as well as cover versions of classic songs. $1 dollar from the sale of every CD will be donated to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which aims to help young people in Britain and abroad with problems including ill-health, disability and addiction.
