Misconception: Most parents depend on medications believing that it is the best possible treatment for the cure of their children’s ADHD.

Truth: even if medication is always a prescription for ADHD, it may not still be the best decision put through children. Parents must also take into consideration that medication is not enough; it should be tied up with proper nutrition, behavior therapy, education and the support and motivation of family members.

Misconception: A child may sooner or later grow out and be released from ADHD.

Truth: parents must keep in mind that their children will not just grow out of ADHD. Research shows that seventy percent of children still have with them ADHD even in their adolescence and worse is even carried out in adulthood. Yet, with right treatment and proper disposition, children will eventually learn to handle and reduce the symptoms.

Misconception: Laziness and dumbness are present in a child having ADHD.

Truth: This is not absolutely right. Some patients with ADHD exhibit intelligence, thus, it cannot be directly associated with a child’s intellectual capability.

Misconception: Children with ADHD are taking advantage of their condition even though they can be better if they wanted to.

Truth: ADHD is a disability. Children are doing their best to maximize their abilities in everything they do. But because for some medical reasons, hyperactivity still dominates them and thus if they do not obey most of the time, it is still but rebuttable they do it on their will.
