2011 NFL Week 7 Predictions and Picks

It’s time to make my 2011 NFL week 7 predictions and picks. Let’s start with the early Sunday contests around the league. San Diego travels to face the New York Jets. The Jets defense has been terrific but the offense has been suspect to say the least this season. Do we expect an offensive outburst for once from New York? Probably not.
If the Jets win, they’ll have to put up some points against the Chargers. I am going with the upset here and a San Diego win in New York. Chargers get 2 touchdown passes from Philip Rivers and 1 Ryan Matthews score in a 23-16 victory. The ‘boo-birds” come out in the 4th quarter when Jets fans realize the offense is still quite stagnant.

Next up on the 2011 NFL week 7 schedule is Chicago at Tampa Bay. The Bucs are much better at home and Chicago has struggled away from home. Can the Bears win a crucial road game? My gut feeling is that the Bears can do it-but they’ll stumble late in a 20-18 loss. Matt Forte gets a pair of touchdowns but it’s not enough to beat Tampa Bay on the road.

Washington tries to rebound from a tough loss to Philadelphia with a road contest at Carolina. I have a feeling that Cam Newton is finally going to get a win here at home. Newton tosses a pair of touchdowns and runs for another in a 27-16 win over the downward spiralling Redskins.

My NFL week 7 picks continue with Atlanta in Detroit. Can the Lions actually have back to back losses at home? I think it’s definitely possible with the Falcons coming to town. One thing that might be important for Matt Ryan and company is the fact that they also play in a dome. I think it will be close-but the Lions bounce back with a 27-20 win over the Falcons.

Seattle is in Cleveland in week 7 for a matchup not many people will care too much about. Who wins this contest? I think the Browns should win but it’s tough to predict either of these teams winning with so much inconsistency. Still, I think the Browns find a way to win 23-17.

Next up for the NFL week 7 schedule, Denver is in Miami. The Dolphins should be good to go here at home but the Broncos will have the Tim Tebow factor. Still, I think the Dolphins walk away with a 24-21 win. Tebow runs for 2 scores but tosses 3 interceptions.

Houston is in Nashville to face the Tennessee Titans. Can the Titans finally get Chris Johnson going? The more important question is can the Titans defense slow down a prolific Houston offense? I think this one could be a shoot out. In fact, I’ll say the Titans edge the Texans 34-31 in one of the more entertaining games of the week.

My 2011 NFL week 7 picks and predictions continue with Kansas City in Oakland. The Chiefs are playing better of late but the Raiders defense has been stellar. I don’t think the Chiefs will muster many points against the Raiders in this one. Oakland wins 27-10 as McFadden rambles for 143 yards and 2 scores.

Pittsburgh travels to Arizona in a game that could be pivotal for the Steelers. Can Big Ben and company win on the road? Absolutely. The Steelers win 27-17. Ben Roethlisberger tosses 2 touchdowns and Mendenhall gathers another.

Green Bay tries to avoid the upset special in Minnesota. The Packers look like a team capable of finishing undefeated at this point. Can they win against the Vikings? My NFL week 7 picks have the Packers winning large on the road with a 38-20 victory. Aaron Rodgers tosses 4 more touchdown passes in an MVP season.

St. Louis will play in Dallas against the Cowboys. The Rams didn’t fare too well against the Packers and they probably won’t play too well against an incredibly talented Dallas defense. The angry Cowboys get one defensive touchdown and 5 sacks in a 30-10 win.

Indianapolis hopes to get a win on the road in New Orleans. This looks to be as close to a gimme as you might have during the week 7 schedule. The Colts stumble early and often and the Saints roll to a 38-7 win. Drew Brees fires 4 touchdown passes and Mark Ingram runs for another.

The final game on the 2011 week 7 schedule pits Baltimore at Jacksonville. Can the Jags play the upset card at home? You have this feeling Maurice Jones-Drew will meet a brick wall in the Ravens defense. Baltimore squeezes out a tough win thanks to Ray Rice who has 123 yards and 2 scores. My NFL week 7 picks have the Ravens winning going away 23-16.

That’s it for my 2011 NFL week 7 picks and predictions. I’ll be back with another round of picks during week 8. Until then, enjoy all the football everybody!
