Orlando is America’s favorite family getaway location and at Christmastime there are even more amazing events for the whole family to see. To feel a winter chill, visit the ice and snow event at Gaylord Palms Resort. To enjoy the beautiful weather Orlando has to offer at Christmas, visit Universal or Disney theme parks and enjoy their special Christmas events.

Gaylord Palms Ice! 16th November – January 2nd

This event with two millions pounds of carved ice is a winter wonderland for Floridians. These incredible sculptures are created by master carvers from Harbin, China. They spend a month carving these amazing Christmas scenes. The ice is stained and illuminated to bring out the brilliance of the ice. This year they have partnered with DreamWorks to create scenes from “Shrek the Halls”. Shrek, Fiona, Puss in Boots, Donkey and other characters are brought to life, in these vibrant ice sculptures.

At the end of the exhibit, everyone can enjoy the thrill of an ice slides. They have five slides, some with higher inclines for the daredevils.

One huge coat with a hood is provided, but with a temperature of 9 degrees throughout the exhibit, wear warm clothes and bring hats and gloves with you. The exhibit is wheelchair and stroller accessible.

After the exhibit, take the time to walk around the resort and see the beautiful Christmas decorations. Relax and drink hot chocolate while watching one of the many Christmas shows on stage in the beautiful glass atrium. The kids can visit Santa and take part in a scavenger hunt around the hotel.

ICE! is open daily and hours vary. Tickets range in price depending on the time of your visit. These are the prices for advanced purchase tickets online; onsite tickets will cost a few more dollars.

Gaylord Palms Snow! 16th November – January 2nd

Explore this year’s Snow event is Kung Fu Panda Awesome Snow. This attraction has 130 tons of snow made fresh each day. Explore a village with snow tunnels, bridges over snow and hills with a 64 foot slide. Everyone loves to throw a snow ball, and you will get the chance to throw one at Kung Fu Panda.

Snow! Will be open daily, Tickets cost $17.99 for general admission.

Combination tickets can be purchased for both Ice and Snow attractions, adult tickets about $35 and Children tickets (4-12 years) for $26. Children under 4 are free.

Universal Studios

Universal Studios has plenty of Christmas events from December 3 to January 2 which are included in the admission to the parks.

Macy’s Holiday Parade
This parade brings the best of the New York’s Thanksgiving parade to Orlando, Kids and adults alike will be enthralled with the massive balloons, floats and marching bands. At the end of the parade Santa himself will make a visit. After the parade walk around and enjoy the Christmas village with its glittering display of lights.

Mannhiem Streamroller
The biggest selling Christmas artist of all time, perform at Universal Studios on select Saturday and Sunday nights. This event is for everyone and they know how to rock Christmas music.

Grinchmas at islands of adventure
Meet the Grinch and other characters from the classic Dr. Seuss Christmas story “How the Grinch stole Christmas”; enjoy the live show ‘Grinchmas Wholiday Speculator’ featuring music from Mannheim Steamroller and don’t miss the Wonky tree lot.

To spend some one on one time with the Grinch characters, enjoy a Character breakfast. Reservations are required so book ahead.

Disney world

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party November 8- December 18

This event is held at Magic Kingdom each Christmas and requires an additional event ticket to be purchased. This event is filled with live entertainment from Disney’s favorite characters, a speculator fireworks display and of course the famous Mickey’s once upon a Christmas time parade. You will be enchanted by the lights on the Cinderella Castle and will experience a magical snowfall on Main Street.

This starts at 7pm and runs to Midnight.
