Q: I WANT YOU GUYS TO READ MY SPEECH AND GIVE FEEDBACK WHETHER IT IS PERSUASIVE OR NOT! THANKS YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR FEED BACK, SPEECH IS 4 MINUTES! THANK YOU AGAIN~One second is all it takes for this “thing” to spread from human to human. One second is all it takes for this “thing” to become a pandemic. One second is all it takes for this “thing” to cause several sicknesses and thousands of death. This “thing” is known as Swine Flu! A.K.A. H1N1 Good _____ Students, Teacher and Camera.I am standing before you to persuade you all about why we should be worried about the Swine Flu. Now let us define Swine Flu. When we first hear the words Swine Flu, we think of a virus or a flu that will make us sick. That is true but what you’re missing out on is that Swine Flu is a highly contagious virus.Swine Flu isn’t any ordinary virus which comes and goes. In fact, it is an interesting virus which contains a mixture of pig virus, human virus as well as bird virus. Therefore Swine Flu will stay inside your body, causing harm and will not go unless it is taken care of. Which will be difficult since it’s a mixed virus. That is why you take action and be worried about the Swine Flu. Now, some of you might think, just because none of us here have it doesn’t mean that you won’t have to worry about it. YOU’RE WRONG, YOU’RE ALL WRONG! Each and every one of us should worry about it! Swine Flu can easily spread! It can spread from person-to-person as well as from the air-to-person. Say for example, an infected person who has swine flu, like me, *coughs*, dispersing infected droplets into the air, leaving the air contaminated with the virus. Therefore another person can breathe in contaminated air and be exposed! You will never know what you breathe in. That is why you have to take action and be worried about the Swine Flu.Swine Flu can lead to several symptoms such as coughing, runny nose, sore throat, headache, vomiting and diarrhea which could last for weeks. The worse thing Swine Flu can ever do to you is DEATH! DEATH I TELL YA! That is why you must take action and be worried about the Swine Flu.If you are worried about the Swine Flu now, you can avoid it by washing hands with soap and water or alcohol-based sanitizer. You should avoid touching your mouth, nose or eyes with your hands unless you have washed your hands because you will never know what’s on your hand.IF YOU ARE GOING TO COUGH! THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION AND I SUGGEST YOU COVER IT! SO THAT YOU DON’T SPREAD THE SWINE FLU AND CAUSE A PANDEMIC, WHAT I MEAN BY PANDEMIC IS THE WHOLE COUNTRY GETS INFECTED! I MYSELF AM WORRIED ABOUT THE SWINE FLU. Here is a little analogy to help you understand why we should be worried about the Swine Flu. We can be compared to this piece of paper. This piece of paper is like a person with Swine Flu. I can tear this piece of paper easily and have two pieces. This is like saying a person with swine flu can easily spread the swine flu to another person. This spreading continues on and on which will then lead to a pandemic! Like me continuing to tear this paper. This tearing of this piece of paper can also be compared to how easily your life can end. Now my message is simple, BE WORRIED ABOUT THIS SWINE FLU UNTIL IT HAS BEEN ANIHILATED.~
A: Very persuasive, but if possible try to use some sources like ‘according to so and so’. Use a lot of expression, don’t be shy just because you’re in front of a large group, read it just as you would if you were alone in your room with no one home. Also, I don’t really like the tearing a paper analogy, but I can’t seem to think of anything better to use at this moment, and it’s not terrible. But beside the point, you should do great.
My nephew exhibits 90% of the signs & symptoms of A(H1N1) but his parents are kind of in a “state of denial”..?
Q: and dismisses it as another one of those regular asthma attacks which runs in the family. My nephew has been lethargic, vomiting, irritable, has difficulty breathing, on and off fever, cough, and shows flu-like symptoms!I’m afraid of the POSSIBILITY that he may be carrying the swine flu virus but his own parents don’t care at all.Our family lives in one compound and it would be very easy to spread the virus to every household member if indeed my fears turn out to be true. What should I do?I live in this part of my country (Philippines) where it’s expected that most government authorities that lead our community do not even know how to handle such case. Even at the local community school, where it has already been reported that several students are getting sick everyday, no action is being done by the School Head. No monitoring, no recording, no investigation on the sick pupils being done. Everyone seems to be in denial of the possibility it may happen in our own community! The teachers are reminding the pupils to wash their hands regularly, that is all. And no action being done on the sick students who opt to stay at home without proper monitoring and health check up. Still, what if?? That sick child may still spread the virus to his/her family members without knowing it.Anyway, to make matters worse, if I decide to tell someone of my worries about my nephew, for sure it would create a big fight between me and my sister-in-law which I do not want to happen (if possible) because it will affect the whole family! What should I do? Help.Additional DetailsI forgot to add, my nephew’s mother works in a medical clinic where she’s exposed to all kinds of virus everyday. His father travels to and from Manila where the first victim of the A(H1N1) in this country occurred just yesterday .
A: The H1N1 virus is No more serious than the typical flu. That being said, young children are at higher risks of developing complications if the fever gets too high.If his mother works in a medical clinic, I’m sure she knows what to do if he is ill.Until he gets over it, he should stay inside and there should be no visitors to the house.
My Story on Swine Flu?
Q: Hi. I’m danielle. I’m 15 years old and a sophomore in High School. I’m from Western Illinois. Today, October 20th, 2009, I got diagnosed with H1N1. I was sick last week, but then got better. I was supposed to go to the Dr. yesterday, but I felt better then I have in the passed week and a half. But today, I got up and went to school as usual. During 1st period Spanish class, I started feeling sick. My back ached, I was dizzy, lightheaded, was coughing, runny nose, congested and my face was burning up. I would have went home then, but I had drivers ed 6th hour which was 5 hours away. I stayed until after 6 hour. Went to the nurse. They said my temperature was 98 degrees. I went home, and went to the doctor. 45 mintues later, my fever was 102.5 degrees. In the State of Illinois, you are only allowed to miss 3 days of drivers ed, on the 4th day you are dropped. To me, that’s a little harsh, and especially now since it’s Cold and Flu season and there had been cases of H1N1 at the school like mine. I came home and told my friend what had happened. She said to call the teacher tomorrow and work things out because they are told too. How can you expect a person to go to school with H1N1? I don’t see it. I won’t be back in school until at least Thursday. If I still feel sick then, then i probably wont go then either. I have to feel better and not run a temperature for at least 24 hours. Don’t think it won’t happen to you. Ever since it came out, I always thought “i won’t get that. i never get sick anyways and if i do, it’s only a cold.” But needless to say, I did. It’s a scary thing. I hear kids at school making jokes about it, like going down the hall saying “SWINE” or “i bet that person has swine.” It isn’t funny. Kids need to stop making jokes about it. It’s a serious thing and people have died from it. I most likely won’t, but children and pregnant women have. People say that they are running it in the ground, but how? Don’t you want to know the symptoms and know about it? I surely do and I’m glad I did. Papers have been passed out since the 1st day of school about it. So far my school hasn’t closed down for a few days, but most likely it will. There’s so many kids who have it.Please, stop making jokes about it and learn about it so incase you end up getting it, you know what to look for and do.thanks for reading.do you have it? if so, what is your story?
A: That’s the whole point behind this current novel H1N1 virus. No one has a natural resistance to it so if exposed, you will get sick unless you’ve been vaccinated. The seasonal flu vaccine doesn’t help at all and so far, 99.9% of all tested samples have been H1N1 novel. Note there is another H1N1 that’s part of the seasonal flu vaccine but it doesn’t offer protection against the H1N1 novel virus. Have your parents and Doctor contact the school to sort things out.
