Can the stomach flu be h1n1
H1N1 flu is similar to regular flu but it is NOT the stomach flu. With stomach flu you are throwing up, & there is diarrhea . You will probably feel pretty sick for a day or 2 but will then get better. ChaCha on! [ Source: http://www.chacha.com/question/can-the-stomach-flu-be-h1n1 ]

- A: I'm also recovering from H1N1. I was told that the recovery period is around 2 weeks, though, Friday will be 3 weeks for me and I still don't feel right. You could probably attend school but I wouldn't play basketball or other sports until you're over it and also, make sure you get plenty of liquids and sleep.
- 14 weeks with either stomach bug or flu? Any ideas? (TMI)?
- Q: I started this morning off with diarrhea, then I started throwing up. So far I have had diarrhea just about every hour (sometimes a little more often). I've only thrown up five times since 10AM and it's now 8:30PM.I've also had chills and a very low grade fever (99.6 normally I'm about 97.9). My body is just aching in the bones and joints, everything hurts, even my skin. I've been laying down for the better part of the day. I throw up everything I try to eat. I was doing all right on chicken broth, but the last time I threw up was shortly after I'd had chicken broth. I'm trying to stay hydrated.I've never had the flu, but these symptoms sound like the flyers I've gotten about flu and the H1N1 virus. Any suggestions? Should I call my doctor? Also, I have a 6 year old and a 6 month old, how can I keep them healthy if I'm their primary care giver?
- A: sounds like possible flu, i would call your doc in the morning and see what you can do about it.
- I'm getting frequent and random stomach aches. Need options, opinions! HELP =(?
- Q: As the question says, I’m always getting stomach aches. It's mostly at night, right around the time that I go to sleep. For a while I thought it was psychological, and still sometimes do because nothing ever really happens. (Meaning I never throw up or anything, I just feel crappy). But I should have no problem with going to sleep, I don’t get nightmares, and I sleep soundly.. everything is fine as soon as I actually fall asleep. Anyway, besides the consistent night time, I get them all other times of the day off and on.. after I eat, before I eat, when I’m hungry, when I’m not.. Whenever; there is no specific time. They come on so sporadically that its hard to predict or pin a cause to. The other day I was in a book store with a friend and it came out of no where. I felt like I needed to sit down right away or I would just fall over. I don’t feel fatigued though.. Or like dizzy or anything else.. Its just a stomach pain. Another time was the other day I was writing an essay for one of my classes, I had just had a bowl of soup and everything was fine (I try to eat light). Then I took just a few sips of sparkling cider, which normally agrees fine with me, and it came on just like that.. Literally seconds after drinking the cider.I do have high anxiety and find that when I’m stressed they get worse. But sometimes they come on when I have absolutely NOTHING to worry about! In the beginning of November I caught some bug.. I’m not sure if it was the stomach flu because I only threw up twice and I think that was because of the Tamiflu (h1n1 prevention) the doctor gave me.. I took it on an empty stomach. I felt sick for 2 days, felt fine for 2 days, and felt sick again for 3 more days. It was very strange, no other symptoms besides being tired and feeling sick to my stomach. But sometimes I feel like this bug just never went away! What on earth could this be? I keep asking my mom to see a doctor but she just says there is nothing wrong with me and its all in my head. Sometimes I believe her because I do seem to give them to myself at times. But other times I think its not just in my head because they will come on without me thinking about anything stressful or thinking of stomach pain at all. So maybe a therapist would be better? honestly, I’ll try anything now. It really effects my quality of life because I frequently decline invites to places for feeling sick or even the fear of getting sick. I’m becoming so afraid of everything, any foods that I eat I worry that they’ll give me a stomach ache (sometimes they do, so it’s a legit worry). I barely eat anymore for this reason, which has caused me to drop nearly 15 pounds in the past month or so, and I was already not overweight. I used to love meat and now I have trouble eating it. I get really easily grossed out by food, sometimes the sight or smell of it just makes me feel sick. Its ridiculous but I just cant help myself. Going to school I get them a lot (Thankfully its Christmas vacation now so I can have some time to work on this..) but once I get to school I usually feel fine, which makes me think its got more to do with my life than that there is really something wrong.. Idk? T_T Anyway, my symptoms are: - Nausea, but no vomiting - Gas and constipation (ALOT), occasional diarrhea- Bloating (It feels like I always have to hold my stomach in because otherwise the pressure of it just sitting normally hurts.) - I always feel like I need to either have a BM, pass gas or burp, but I never do/can. I can rule out pregnancy, I’m not sexually active so that is definitely not what’s wrong. I don’t think that it is my diet either because it has so little to do with food it seems. I get enough sleep and I treat myself pretty well I think.. I do a lot of relaxing activities and I fall asleep to calming music sometimes at night.. Read.. Drink tea.. I’m like a boring little old lady. But its because of this dang problem! One thing I should make note of I guess.. Is that I was on prednisone from February to July for a serious eye condition. I don’t know if this has anything to do with it, but if it did then why would my symptoms show up 4 months later? Oh, and I also got extensive blood work done and a chest x-ray maybe 2 weeks ago for the same eye disease, so I think anything that was to be found would have been found in those tests, right? I so hope that someone has some answers for me. I just don’t know what to do with myself anymore.. I’m so sick of feeling sick! Sorry to write so much, I just wanted to be thorough. Thanks for reading!!
- A: I think you should go to a doctor anyways. Even if it is just in your head. But stomach cramps, and being bloated can have some serious risks on your health. Stomach pains aren't something you just want to ignore. You might have IBS, but I doubt it. I would go see a gestural doctor and request that you get some tests done on your stomach, intestines, and your colon. Make sure that there's nothing seriously wrong before you go thinking that it's all in your head. Hope this helps you. And hope ya feel better. :]
