Worst Pizza Hut in Evansville, Ind: A Review

I like pizzas among fast foods and Pizza Hut is my favorite pizza chain. I cannot say that I have tried all the pizza chains of USA. But since Pizza Hut can be found almost anywhere in the world, it is a natural choice for a traveler like me. I like Pizza hut pizzas more than Domino’s as I find them with a crunchier crust. Here in USA I discovered that Pizza Hut also makes very delicious Buffalo wings, something that I happened to taste at the Dallas Airport. They were really tasty and I liked it more than many Buffalo wings that I tasted at different food chains. They used the hot sauce before and baked the wings along with it making the wings crunchy and spicy at the same time although not deep fried.

So on a Saturday we thought we would again enjoy the nice Pizza Hut Buffalo Wings and went to the local Pizza Hut in Evansville on N. Green River Road. And the reason for this review is our experience that day.

Deco and atmosphere: The Pizza Hut is located just opposite Eastland Mall, a popular mall in Evansville. The location is very privileged. It is quite big from outside and also says that it has a Kid’s Hut, a separate play area for kids. I naturally took my kid inside the Kid Zone as she was attracted by the colorful chairs there. But the Kid Zone literally stinks and it seems no one ever cleans the place. The restaurant was not at all crowded. Actually, we saw only 4 people except us. We immediately came out of the Kid Zone. But the toilet stink inside the Kid area had formed the first impression of the restaurant for me. Yet I was still hoping for the tasty Buffalo wings to erase that from my mind.

Service: The lady at the counter was courteous and suggested which sauce would be good for my daughter’s chicken wings as she cannot eat the hot sauce. She even served the Buffalo wings straight to the table and we were happy with her attitude. We even didn’t mind the time she took to serve as we were hoping that the time was needed to prepare those tasty wings.

Food: Here started the actual disappointment. The Buffalo wings were nothing that we expected. I have never seen such tiny skinny wing pieces in USA till now. We often talk among us that the sizes of everything in USA are usually huge: huge potatoes, huge onions, huge burgers and obviously huge chickens. The Buffalo wings that I have so far had in the various restaurants differed in preparation style and taste but each of them maintained one American standard. They were all big. Only in third world countries we expect such skinny chicken wings. They have poured a lot of hot sauce over the baked wings. But they didn’t taste good either. They felt rubbery and dry. They were nothing like those we ate at Dallas. In short, I hated them.

We didn’t dare to order a pizza after that. We were so disappointed by the Buffalo wings that we didn’t dare to increase it by tasting anything else there. What I didn’t understand is whether there is no standard that all the Pizza Huts need to maintain to be able to use the name of the renowned food chain. Is there no inspection process? How can such a literally nasty restaurant that serves such sub standard food be allowed to run in the name of Pizza hut?

I can say that I will never go to that restaurant again and will warn all our friends and mainly those with kid never to step inside that specific Pizza Hut restaurant on the N. Green River Road, Evansville Indiana.
