WITNESS the Phenomenon that is Known as Tim Tebow

Are we all products of the moment with Tim Tebow? Why is that us sport fans can’t get enough of him right now? Love him or hate him, he is the most talked about athlete today. Partially thanks to Skip Bayless who has been given him raves since the beginning and making for entertaining discussions or arguments with whoever will dare to debate him on ESPN’s First Take every morning. Tebow has become a daily topic on the show for a couple months and now has become a multiple topic point of debate. If you haven’t had a chance to watch Skip and Stephen A. Smith go at it, please wake up early and watch, record an episode or YouTube a clip. I promise you that you will be humored by what you see and at the same time get an understanding to as what both sides of this story are coming from.

But the Phenomenon that has now become Tim Tebow is something that has been missing from all sports for a while. An athlete who has found the need to put others in front himself isn’t seen as often as it should. Someone who has only drawn criticism for his play along with a high level of success and not his character shows that he is doing something right so far. He is a class act guy who for some reason always is saying the right thing. Whether it is a simple compliment towards himself and directing all the success to his teammates and coaching staff or calmly replying to criticism with a polite answer, he is always humble and genuine with his replies. Yes his quarterback skills may not be at the highest level and his number might not traditionally compute to success and winning. Yet he has a level of understanding to what all the critics are saying and he is making a determined effort to correct his flaws and better himself for himself and his teammates. He isn’t trying to conform to this idea or type of player like another athlete we once where in witness before. His passion for the game, faith, determination, and ability to find a ways to win a game is inspiring. He is proving that when you find a way to win in life, you can find a way to win in sports. What coach and/or parent shouldn’t be having their kids watch what is happening right now so that they too can try to emulate the effort that is being shown? And it doesn’t have to be just in sports but why not school or a job. Hard work does really pay off and if you really want to do something please understand that it isn’t going to be easy and you are to have to experience the grind and tough it out. Learn to ride the wave that is life where there will be ups and down but positive thoughts and actions will usually lead to positive results.

What has been done over the past few months is leaving most people with more questions than answers. Yes there is a team full of other players and an entire coaching staff but one can’t argue the presence and influence that he has and the impact he has with the team and the game. Only time will tell if he will be able to keep up this remarkable run up. Please believe once it does end that all the haters will proudly stand and shout they were correct all along. We must understand that this in only the first chapter of an entire book and nobody knows how a book will end in the middle of the first chapter. We have to let it marinate and like in life take both the good and the bad with this story. All I know is if more athletes acted in his manner there wouldn’t be as many scandals with today’s athletes and the next generation will hold themselves to a higher standard both in sports and in life.
