Garlands

Garlands make wonderful decorations for your home. Some great garland ideas are:

Make a basic chain garland out of blue and white construction paper. Cut strips out of the construction paper. The strips can be any size you want them to be. Make a ring out of a blue strip of paper, glue the ends together and let it dry. Slide a white paper strip through the center of the blue ring, glue the ends together and let it dry. Continue doing this until the chain of garland is at a length that you like. Make snowflakes out of white and blue construction paper. Add glitter to them to make them shine. Cover the snowflakes in contact paper. Trim the contact paper to the edges of the snowflake. Use the hole punch to make a hole in each of the snowflakes. Place the string through a hole in a blue snowflake and a white one. Tie them together. Continue doing this until the garland is at the length that you want it to be. Cut snow man shapes out of white construction paper. Cut hats out of blue construction paper. Glue the hats to the heads of the snowmen. Use a crayon to draw a face on each snowman. If you want you can cut arms and scarves out of construction paper and glue them to the snowman as well. Cover the snowmen with contact paper. Trim the contact paper to the edges of the snowmen. Use the hole punch to make a hole in each snowman. Use the string to tie them together to form the garland. Use the snowmen and snowflakes to make a garland. All you have to do is alternate between snowmen and snowflakes until the garland is at a length you like.

Wreaths

Make a winter wreath to hang on your front door or on a wall in your home. Some simple wreath ideas are:

Cut the center out of a paper plate. Use the outer ring of the plate to make a wreath. Use the hole punch to make two holes in the plate. Put a piece of string through the holes and tie the ends together. This will be the hanger. Glue snowflake cutouts to the paper plate ring. Alternate between white and blue snowflakes. Use snowmen cutouts to decorate the paper ring. Use both snowflakes and snowmen to decorate the ring.

Place Mats

Winter place mats will look nice sitting on your table. Make one for each place setting. Some great place mat ideas are:

Glue snowflakes to a piece of construction paper. Cover the paper in contact paper and trim the contact paper to the edge of the construction paper. Instead of decorating the paper with snowflakes, try decorating it with the snowmen. You can also use the snowflake and snowmen cutouts. Use a white crayon to draw a winter scene on a piece of black construction paper. Cover it with contact paper. Trim the contact paper to the edges of the construction paper.
