“Transformers: Dark Of The Moon” is an action-packed thriller, with the opening minutes of the movie capturing the imagination of viewers and leaving you wanting more. Here are my top three reasons why I thought “Transformers: III” was the movie of the year in 2011.
1) The acting is actually pretty good this time. Prior Transformers movies had really taken a lashing from movie critics and movie-goers alike that the acting took a backseat to the special effects. Not so in this movie. You find yourself getting sucked in, almost as if you are there with the rest of the people in the movie, and a large part of that has to do with the quality of acting.
2) Once again, the Transformers have some sweet cars. The Chevy Camaro, obviously a nice plug for the GM brand, is not only a statement in style, but the raw power plays into the Bumblebee attitude perfectly. The Mercedes Benz which takes away Carly, Sam Witwicki’s girlfriend, is pretty incredible within itself. Even if you don’t like the idea of giant robot-like aliens fighting each other for supremacy on earth, if you are a metal-head, you’ll love the cars in Transformers 3. If you don’t come away from the movie wanting to buy a new Camaro, you might want to get checked out.
3) The storyline is pretty unique. Alright, it is similar to the other “Bad aliens come to earth; bad aliens fight earth; bad aliens lose” mantras out there. But this one is a little different. There is a human element to the evil, and as the movie progresses, we find that humans are actually helping the Autobots take over the world. For that, I think the movie is different that most others, and worth the money to go and see.
Overall, I am going to give Transformers 3 an “A-“. While it wasn’t the best movie I’ve ever seen, it certainly is the best I’ve seen in quite a while. For a guy that likes aliens, sweet cars, and gorgeous girls, that is saying something.
