Why the Dallas Cowboys Will Still Make the NFL Playoffs

Despite the fact that the Dallas Cowboys have gotten off to a 2-3 start, there are still reasons to be encouraged about their performance and the future of this team. The Dallas Cowboys have the talent to beat any team in the NFL, and there are several key reasons why they will still make the playoffs.

Upcoming Schedule

The Cowboys are 2-3 but they have not played a team with a losing record. The Cowboys have upcoming games against the St. Louis Rams, Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals. These teams have combined to win three games so far this season, so that should be four easy wins for the Cowboys. They also have five games remaining against the NFC East teams. The Redskins are in turmoil and are switching quarterbacks and the Cowboys have already defeated them earlier this season. If Dallas is able to split with the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants, that is another three wins. The Cowboys would have two games remaining against the Buffalo Bills and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Both of these teams are vastly improved teams and should be thightly contested games. If the Cowboys lose both games, they should end the season with a 9-7 record which should earn atleast a wild card spot.. If they manage to win one or two, they will win 10 or 11 games which will easily get them in the playoffs.

Rob Ryan’s Defense

The new defensive scheme by Rob Ryan has the Cowboys as the 5th ranked defense in the NFL, and they were able to hold the high powered New England Patriots to only 20 points. The last few season have seen the Cowboys have one of the best offesnses in the league but struggle at defense. The new defense should be able to keep them in games that the offense struggles. The Cowboys offense is ranked 7th in the NFL but they are having trouble putting points on the board. The redzone struggles should end at some point in the season. If the Cowboys can play a complete game, then they have the talent to beat any team in the NFL.

NFC East

The NFC East is usually considered to be one of the best divisions in football, but all four teams have had their troubles this season. The Redskins are having quarterback problems that should last the rest of the season. Eli Manning and the Giants are one of the most inconsitant teams in the NFL and can lose on any given week. This was proven by their week 5 loss at home to the Seahawks. The Eagles have stuggled all season and still do not look like that great of a football team. As pointed out earlier, the Cowboys should have no problem winning nine games this season. With the strength of the NFC East, nine wins should be enough to win the division.
