Why Mario is the Best Game Character of All Time

I was born in the late ’80s and got to experience the great technology of the ’90s as a kid. The ’90s was filled with the best games, cartoons, movies, and TV shows. My very first game console was the plain and basic Nintendo. This console came with cartridges and not CDs, and had no save button. I remember my mom making my brother and I go to bed, and how we wouldn’t turn the game console off, so that we wouldn’t loose our place in the game that we were playing. My favorite game and character to this very day, is the famous and irreplaceable, Mario.

Mario was one the very first games that I remember playing as a kid. I am not very skilled when it comes to playing video games. Growing up, I had an older brother, and lived in a neighborhood full of older boys, who were better than me at most things, including video games. Nowadays, my husband always laughs at me because when I play a game, I always like to try to beat it myself, because I’m very stubborn. However, eventually I will let him beat the level that I can’t pass. Mario is completely different for me. I can usually beat the whole game myself. Even when I was younger, I could always out play others when it came to Mario. My very favorite old school version is a toss-up between Super Mario Brothers 3, and Super Mario World. I loved Super Mario 3 because it introduced new elements to the Mario world like flying, floating, and the ability to have special items. Super Mario World is my favorite because of, yep you guessed it, Yoshi. My favorite new school version of Mario is, Super Paper Mario, because I like solving puzzles, and this game is all about them. I even like the Super Mario Bros movie that came out in 1993. It’s a corny movie, but to this very day, it’s still one of my all time favorites.

In the end, nothing can compare to the new and old versions of Mario. They’re classic! When I talk to people that were born in the 80’s or early 90’s, the first game that pops out of their mouths is Mario. He is a character that can never be replaced by some these of new school characters that you find in games today.
