Why I’m Afraid of Heights

A man at the mall with his family stopped my Dad to ask the time. He’d lifted his baby daughter onto a balcony ledge, to rest his arms, and wasn’t paying attention. I wanted to tell him to mind her, but didn’t; children shouldn’t interrupt adults. Later we passed, below. Crowds, paramedics; it wasn’t good.
