What Pictures Make the Best Hits for Online Dating

When setting up your profile on an online dating site you’ll be asked to upload a picture of yourself. A picture is beneficial in getting you noticed by potential mates. Most people that are signed up for a dating site won’t talk to someone who doesn’t have a picture. They want to know what the other person looks like before they are willing to take the second step in getting to know someone. But pictures can also hurt a persons chances.

Since potential dates want to see what you look like posting a picture of yourself where you are far off in the background or you post a full body shot where you can’t really get a good distinction of your face can turn people away. The best way to impress a potential date and increase your odds of a response is to post a head shot. The head shot should be clear and not blurry. A blurry face is hard to fully distinguish and to appreciate a persons facial features. The interested party will have to fill in the details of what the person really looks like if their face is all a blur and that can cause a setback or lead to no date. If the picture is blurry someone who may be interested could ask for another picture. If they communicate that they would like to see another picture of you and you don’t have one the interested party may move on.

When posting a picture of yourself don’t distract from yourself by posting pictures with a little too much information. After all you are trying to meet someone and not scare them away. Avoid posting pictures with ex-girlfriends or boyfriends, kids and friends. If you begin a serious relationship with someone you can tell them all about the ex, kids and friends but when you parade them on display before a relationship has begun and the other person has gotten to know you they can interpret things wrong. If your ex is in the picture for instance, the interested party may think you are still in a relationship with your ex.

Don’t post pictures of your pets to try to win a date. They may be cute but the love of your life might get away if they aren’t too fond of the pet in the picture. A dog lover may not like the cat you are showing off and any chance of communication may get cut off before it has a chance to begin.

Avoid posting pictures of cars, trucks, motorcycles or other images like a picture of an attraction you took while on vacation. Scouts who are searching for an online date want to see you not things that you own or places that you’ve been.
