“Weird Al” Yankovic’s ‘Alpocalypse Tour’ Parodies Lady Gaga, Backstreet Boys and Nirvana

“Weird Al” Yankovic is a pop culture icon. For many years, the comedian and engineer of various song parodies has entertained America with his take on the most popular songs ever released.

Some people don’t think “Weird Al” is talented; anyone can change the lyrics around to an already existing song. And that’s true. However, “Weird Al” does it well and in a way so prolific that he has been doing it successfully for decades.

The entertainer has taken shots at Nirvana, Backstreet Boys, Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga. Comedy is subjective and lots of times it can be hit or miss. “Weird Al” is the same way but the one thing you have to give him is he manages to make every song work. I particularly think some of the lyrics are cheesy, but nonetheless I find myself smiling after each song.

His new comedy special, “Weird Al” Yankovic Live!: The Alpocalypse Tour, is a fun showcase of “Weird Al’s” years in the business. What is amazing about his live show is the fact “Weird Al” covers so many artists that set changes, wardrobe changes and mannerisms are a must. For all intents and purposes, the comedian engages fans so that they believe they are watching the actual artist.

If you’ve ever liked a “Weird Al” parody or tried to rewrite the lyrics to your favorite song, you’ll love “Weird Al” Yankovic Live!: The Alpocalypse Tour. This is his first ever televised concert special. Hopefully it won’t be his last.
