Unique Spring Color Ideas for a Girl’s Bedroom

A girl’s bedroom is typically pink or purple. These are stereotypical colors for girl’s from the clothes they wear to the paint on their walls. I chose something entirely different when decorating my little girl’s room in northeast Indiana. I selected a beautiful shade of spring green for the walls and accessories in a variety of spring floral hues that included carnation pink, buttery yellow, forget-me-not blue and creamy white. Consider these unique spring color ideas for a girl’s bedroom, and use uncommon combinations instead of typical girly girl colors.

Begin with a Unique Shade of Lily Green

When looking for unique color ideas for a girl’s bedroom, begin with a unique shade of lily green. I bought five paint samples along with five large poster boards when trying to choose the perfect color for my little girl’s bedroom. I applied each color to the poster boards, and after they dried I placed them against the wall under various lighting conditions.

A large paint sample is the best way to find a unique spring color and the perfect hue for your little girl’s bedroom. Small samples can be deceiving. Sample jars are typically less than $3.00 each, and they are well worth the price.

Select a Patchwork Quilt Embellished with Spring Color

I also selected a spring patchwork quilt embellished with a unique color combination. The colors were reminiscent of spring, and they were absolutely beautiful. It looked fantastic with the lily green wall in the background.

I topped the bed with unique spring throw pillows. One was the same shade of pink as some of the squares on the quilt, and it was very fluffy. Another was also soft and shaped like a butterfly, and it picked up many of the colors in the bedding. The last throw pillow was shaped like a daisy, and it was a pretty shade of blue. With the yellow center it looked like a forget-me-not bloom. The unique blue pillow was her favorite one.

Choose a Color Combination Found in the Bedding when Choosing Drapes

When looking for unique spring color ideas for a little girl’s bedroom drapes, choose one or two hues found in the bedding rather than buying matching drapery. It will look far more unique when it is not part of a set. Use light-blocking blinds, and consider sheer panels in two different colors.

I chose a color similar to the pink found in my little girl’s quilt along with beautiful lily green. I placed the pink sheers on the outside to create a line between the walls and the sheers. They dressed her bedroom windows beautifully.

In addition to these unique spring color ideas for bedding, walls and window treatments, I chose butterflies, dragonflies and flowers to decorate her bedroom walls. They looked gorgeous. I also bought a round ceiling-mounted netted canopy in light pink. She loved her spring bedroom. When we have a home of our own again, I will decorate her room in an equally lovely way with unique color options and much, much more.
