Turn old tube socks into a comfy pet bed for a cat or small dog. What cat or small dog would not appreciate a special handmade bed? The completed pet bed is machine washable and very durable.
Things You’ll Need:
24 old tube socks
Straight pins
Sewing machine
Thread
Scissors
Instructions:
Step 1 – Place 12 tube socks side-by-side on a flat work surface so the length is on a vertical axis. Smooth out any wrinkles. Fold each sock in half from side-to-side thus forming 12 long strips. Move the socks together so they are touching.
Step 2 – Repeat Step 1 but place the tube socks on a horizontal axis.
Step 3 – Weave the horizontal tube socks using an under-over weave through the vertical strips. Begin by placing a horizontal strip over the outside left vertical strip, under the second, over the third and so on. Move the horizontal strip so it is even with the top of the vertical strips. Pin into place.
Step 4 – Weave the second strip by starting under the left vertical strip, over the second, under the third and so on. Move the strip so it is directly under the first strip. Pin the right and left edge of the sock pet bed.
Step 5 – Repeat Step 3 and Step 4 until the entire bed is woven.
Step 6 – Sew two straight seams around the outside edge of the pet bed to hold the tube socks in place. Make the first seam at ¼-inch and the second at ½-inch.
Sew tube socks together to create a larger pet bed.
