TOS Review – Ten Marks

This computer based mathematics program is geared for grades 3 – High School.

The programs are personalized to your child covering more than 300 mathematical topics and aligns with state standards.

Ten Marks has 3 simple principles when it comes to your child’s learning.

Personalized Learning Makes All the Difference. On-Demand Instruction Provides Help When You Need it. Practice Builds Confidence and Improves Achievement.

So with all that in mind…What did we think?

I used this program with only one of my children. I used it with my middle son who is 11 years old and I put him into the 6th grade mathematical program they offered.

My first impressions were this…

The program is well laid out. The Graphics were not overpowering to the eyes. I liked the fact that they help save paper by all worksheets being online rather than the need for printing out a bunch of paperwork. They had a rewards system that was in place and parents had control over rewards. Parents have their own account to track progress of the child.

My son age 11 got to work right away on his math. He loved the fact that his math was on the computer and he could work toward a goal of playing math games when he finished a certain number of worksheets within the system. The very first week he spent an insane amount of time working on Ten Marks. I want to say about 10 hours just in the first week.

He loves the computer. He loves technology. He loves when we can combine school and computer time.

So what did my middle son have to say about Ten Marks?

“I like it! I liked that I got rewards after doing so much math. I liked that it only had 10 problems on each worksheet.”

I didn’t like it when they were having technical difficulties this past week because the work was a bit harder for me and I really needed the videos.”

He really likes things that are short, sweet and to the point. The faster he can move through each subject the better for him.

On a side note: The Technical team with Ten Marks is really fast with a response to your concerns or technical difficulties that you may be experiencing. I was really impressed!

There are some things that I was not so please with in regards to this program. They are…

No printer friendly options for printing out report cards. We check progress on a monthly basis and put that into a records book. I was unable to do that with this program. The report card is not printer friendly in anyway at all. They had a teacher that was hard to understand and that really turned my son away from the video help for awhile. He thought that was his only instructor for that grade and that was not the case.

Other than that we had a very pleasant experience with Ten Marks and have really enjoyed our time with it. We have also been extended a very gracious offer and received six months of time working with this program. We will defiantly be continuing with Ten Marks for the remainder of the year.

So how much does it cost?

$10.00 – one month
$49.00 – six months
$89.00 – twelve months

The cost above is per student. I would love to see Ten Marks extend a family price to homeschoolers with more than one student :)

Overall the program is great. My son has enjoyed it and will continue to enjoy it for the remainder of the year. If you have a struggling learner this would be a great supplement to a regular math curriculum.

**I was given a free 6 month subscription to Ten Marks in exchange for my honest opinion. No other compensation was given. These experiences are my own and yours will differ from my own.**
