To make you a better and more proficient angler and this is exactly what will happen as you avoid these fishing mistakes. The bottom line is that if you engage in any of these fishing mistakes, don’t worry about it, just make the necessary adjustments and get on to catching fish.

Using Hooks That Are Too Large – Many anglers make this mistake, especially when fishing with live worms. This is what happens: they use a hook that’s too large and attempt to “thread” the worm onto said hook while leaving a bit hanging off to make it appear natural. This is a big mistake. For bait fishing (especially with live worms) gang hooks should be employed. Gang hooks enable the angler to present a worm in a completely natural manner (the way it would look in nature). Gang hooks are a pair of small hooks tied in tandem, so you will never again have to use hooks that are too large. Not Changing Your Line Frequently Enough – This mistake is made by a lot of anglers. By not changing your line frequently enough, you’re just asking for problems. Fishing line (especially in the case of monofilament) becomes frayed and coiled after being on your spinning reel for an extended period of time. This cuts down on the lines performance dramatically. For example if, when you cast, your line is coiled like a slinky, it needs to be changed. The last thing you need is to have your line break or get all knotted up while fighting a large trout. Not Paying Attention To The Moon – This is a mistake that many anglers make, but is a very simple one to correct. The moon has an amazing impact on the feeding activity of fish. For example, did you know that during certain phases of the moon, you should be fishing? That’s right something as simple as knowing which phase the moon is in, and planning your fishing trips accordingly will dramatically increase your bite rates. Learn how the moon affects fishing and you can avoid this trout fishing mistake.

Now you know what the top 3 trout fishing mistakes are and some simple ways to avoid them. Use this information to your advantage and start catching more trout. Never forget this quote, “there’s a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore, looking like an idiot”. Hopefully this article will help everyone avoid the latter part of that quote.
