The Sims: The Best Alternate Reality World

For the past 10 years or more, a favorite past-time of many people has been video-gaming. The gaming industry has grown quickly through the years, and it continues to develop new technology that keeps our interest peaked. As I have grown up with several types of video games, such as Mario Brothers, Zelda, The Simpsons and Mike Tyson’s Punch Out, there has been one game series that I have particularly grown fond of. While the older games are still favorite classics of mine, I do enjoy a newer series: The Sims.

I enjoy role-playing in video games. When you play The Sims, you can be anybody that you want. It allows you to create an alternate reality that you wouldn’t normally live. If you are a neat-freak in your own home, you can let the trash pile up in your Sims home. Or, if have always dreamed of being a singer, movie star or even a hobo, it can happen in The Sims. The game allows you to make your dreams come true in a virtual reality.

When The Sims was first released, he was confined to just the walls of his home. Neighbors would build houses around him, so that he could have a friend or two. You had to take care of his basic needs such as hunger, hygiene, employment and sleep. If you fell in love with a neighbor, you were married and then a baby was born. It was the easiest path to an instant family.

The developers then realized that the Sim needed to get out from his home. Within just a couple of years, a Sim was able to hop in a taxi, go to a restaurant or shop. He then was able to meet more new people, instead of just being confined to his neighborhood.

As the popularity of The Sims grew, and more players began creating Sims after themselves, the developers began treating them as real virtual people. Today, Sims have dreams and aspirations. Some want to be professional thieves. Others want a career in the entertainment industry. And there are also a few mad scientists and magicians. Along with developing a Sim though, you can decide what his/her goal is in life. Does he want romance? A career? Or is he just a dreamer?

The details of how a Sim looks have changed through the past several years too. At one time, we just picked out their gender, color of clothes, hair and eyes. Today, the details have become finer-making the Sims appear more realistic. We can choose beauty marks, types of hair styles, shapes of eyes and eyebrows and even their nationality.

For those who have always wanted to create an alternate reality and live out their dreams, The Sims have always made it possible. It’s a way to get away from your own busy life, and kick back in another. On The Sims, you can take a vacation at any time, an uninterrupted nap or even fly to another country-with no questions asked. As the gaming details continue to become finer and more human quality-like, the Sims will continue living. It’s the best fantasy world that anybody could ever live in.
