The Memorial Service

I read the notice the other day,
A good friend died on the fairway.
A heart attack was the reason,
Of his death this holiday season.

A memorial service will be held,
At one o’clock – I feel compelled,
To pay a visit and remember,
His life and past, this bleak December.

The service was short and a lot of laughs,
We spoke of good times in the past.
We recalled so many smiles,
As we traced back all the miles.

We will miss our very good friend,
Another one won’t come again.
At our age our friends are few.
They’re always dying and saying adieu.
